Yeah Persona and the SMT main games are..pretty different from each other. Then at the end of the quest, it explains why. Also at the very beginning, it explains why. I played Persona you know.
Nobody who plays Everquest ever quested. 99% of the lore was in what citizens would do, say openly and how they would act and how the terrain and environment looked.
For example, Nektulos Castle, there are books scatted all over the place with tons of lore, NOT even quests.
Well, you have to argue with it to them. Since they said the quests are filled "to the brim" with such lore.
Gathers these apples because I'm hungry.
Kill this demon because I want it dead.
That's pretty much the reasoning behind most of it.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
From Nektulos' recent responses, I have come to one conclusion: he knows the lore in this game is deep, and made this thread simply to annoy and get more attention. Which "I find completely sad".
I know of no quest in FFXIV that is a "do-this-fetch-quest/kill-this#-mobs" that doesn't also have a story involved, let alone broaden our grasp of the world. And yes, I make it a point to play every quest, talk to every NPC, read all the dialogue. It seems OP wants every quest to have world-shattering information in order to consider it information, which again has to do with limited expectations.
By the way Nektulos, AskaRay's comparison to SMT was meant to call out your broken logic in saying that the quests have no information. He knows the quests in SMT are explained, just like he knows they are in FFXIV. His statement was akin to what you have said about FFXIV quests, except his was sarcastic and intentionally false. Savvy? Boy, do I hope you do...
I will predict that OP will now completely ignore everything we said, make more false statements based on nothing, whine, whine, whine, and possibly call someone stupid...that ignore feature is starting to look pretty darn tempting...
This is my last post on this thread. I would recommend we begin to ignore this, any point we make will either be fuel for OP's troll-fire, or completely ignored/misunderstood by OP. I recommend we use our time on threads that actually have a purpose...

Really i remember a quest chain in the shroud that has you killing increasingly difficult fauna near hawthorn hut pretty much just because the guy is a little off his rocker when it comes to pest control.
Heheh, I thought that was a cool twist on the old formula too, kind of a satirical nod. Also an example of a small characterization piece that doesn't need to be tied in to the grand arc of the story to be entertaining. It wasn't really about "go kill a # of mobs", it was about the loon who's telling you to "go kill a # of mobs"...it made me laugh the first time, and chuckle the second...yes, I replay stuff with alts... <.<
...AH, fudge nuggets...you got me to post again...

Given by the quests you are showing, this seems to be Quarrymill you are referring to. Lets disassemble the quests.
You are tasked by Fawkes for getting 6 apples from the orchard. In the follow-up quest you get to know that he wanted them as an offering to the forest guardian, as this harvest was the best in years for him. This shows that the gridanian people rever their guardians for many things.
You're being told that a band called Redbelly Wasps are taking hold of a abandoned village east of Quarrymill, and you're tasked to thin them out a bit to keep them in check. Faucertaux hopes that they perhaps decide to leave the place one day so the village can be used again for Hyur and Elezen to peacefully coexist, hinting at possible strained relations between them.
Here, you are on the whim of a kid (sorry, I meant - Ser Kerrich, Dark Rider of the Shroud) , playing along with her commands. Just something on the side which probably shouldn't be taken too seriously.
There you are, there is a LOT to find in the quest text and in their conversations. You just seem to be too lazy to bother yourself with this.
C'mon, try harder next time.
Nektulos-Tuor topic. Move along everyone.
