First rule of RPGs: Talk to everyone all the time, no exceptions.
Do you talk to NPCs between quest goals? No? Replay the game and do that.
I have a friend who used to just...not read in RPGs. Ever. I told him, you can't get away with that. He asked me "what's going on in the story now?" and it was all because he wasn't reading what was being said. Sure....he saw the words but he wasn't READING the words.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Frankly, this gives the impression that you haven't done that many of the quests and never talk to NPCs that don't have a ! over their head. I feel like if you put half as much energy into learning about the world as complaining that you don't know anything about the world, you wouldn't have many issues.I never said there was none of it. Also, a lot of quests are a total joke and don't say much of anything, they just have problems you have to solve, like "Find My Ball.", "Kill 10 poachers.", "Mine me 3 stones.", "Kneel and then use emotes on me!". Not very informative quests. Then there are people in towns that actually tell you about them, but they usually point out very obvious things, like so obvious there is no reason for them to be there in the first place.
This was my problem with WoW. I bought the warchest or how it is called a few months ago just to try it out and each quest was a huge wall of text. I read ALL quests in ALL the games I play but I just couldn't get myself into it in WoW. I really like how FFXIV does it, you get small bubble with 2+- sentences and the whole quest is done in a few bubbles (there are exceptions ofc). When I feel like exploring more about the lore I can always find it online, but I don't feel like I missed something because I got lost in the walls of text.
Questing for DoH and DoL really have touchy story. Try it.
I think the only thing that the game lacks in information is the different race tribes. Not much is told between them individually, even in quests. Only bits we have is the menu selection information. Other than that I think the cities and dungeons already have been told their story. That I know little to nothing about anything about the areas, the cities, how people live and are, or anything about the very race I play.
However, I can get a quest with a mediocre story I will forget in 5 minutes after doing it.
I would love to know more about how the world works, about the races, about the dungeons, about what is happening in it.
I find it very difficult to believe someone who claims to be a 'roleplayer' in their sig actually has not been actively following the game's storyline by actually taking the time to read every bit of dialogue on screen, making this thread nothing but a sad attempt to troll. FFXIV's lore and story is incredibly deep and is actually being constantly added to and refined, due to the original lore/setting being the creation of a team member who no longer works for SE (Kenichi Iwao, who I understand was originally a writer on Capcom's Resident Evil series), thus the current lore and writing teams (headed by Banri Oda and Michael Christopher Koji Fox) have had to fill in the blanks so to speak and fix or improve things lore wise as the game has continued to develop.
And given Koji Fox's continued interaction with this very forum (mostly in the Lore section), and the fact that he and Mr Oda (and the rest of the lore/writing/localization team members) have stated how much they enjoy crafting the game's lore knowing that players actually take notice of it and are really becoming immersed in the world they are developing, your comments are extremely insulting to them and come across as ignorant and condescending I'm afraid.
This is not an attack on you Nektulos though, and if it seems like that, I'm really sorry, but I just cannot accept your claim that there is no lore information mentioned in game where in actual fact the game is full of lore. You just have to open your eyes, and 'hear, feel, think.'![]()

Aren't they making a lore book?
In any case, if you learned nothing about the city states and their surrounding areas while doing the MSQ, then you didn't pay attention, and that's your fault.

I realize this is a troll thread, but given the amount of lore people on these forums know about all of these things, maybe you aren't actually looking for that info.
