My take on gears is repeated a few times in this thread.
Yeah stats are incredibly boring and there's very little that really identifies with jobs and stuff.
But the killer for me is the gear lifespan itself is what kills my motivation. there is no purpose at all in taking the time to gear up your character cos as soon as you make the effort to do it. it becomes obsolete.
there is no point overcoming challenges cos as soon as you do they get nerfed into a cake walk.... and it's all highly demotivating. thus my only real interest is the story at the minute.
if they want players to try the hardest content and toughest challenges they need to make the rewards last.... I'm a very casual player but I will push to beat the biggest challenges and overcome the biggest hurdles if I feel it will have a lasting reward / value... but there no point in doing so when it becomes so easy that people will soon be face rolling it...
