There wasn't any gear they could make because they can only make 185 items (Hello? 2 weeks into HW, i.e. 5 months earlier, we had 190 gear for free). Now people who enjoy the crafting part of the game can make useful items, not just the players who made Culinarian and Alchemist.
I would just rather have the crafting make sense. I don't get why trading a bunch of cakes to some vendor along with a bunch of unidentifiable seeds relates in anyway to a weapon. Why not make it so the crafting aspect is that a crafter can create the pre-req weapon to bypass stage 1?

I'm not sure why they didn't do something like this either, personally. It would have also allowed them to "flavor" the Zeta trade-in not as having the item destroyed but rather it serving as the physical foundation for the new weapon.

Its also really stupid how crafters have been left out with no gears for them to craft for endgame since the best gears are obtained with tokens. This fear for RMT needs to be eliminated because its going out over players aswell. I wouldnt mind saving up 10m for a piece of armor if I knew it was worth it but that goes back to the messed up envoirment this game has where gears get useless so fast. Not everyone can get gil fast and for thoese who probably saved up for weeks to be able to get a piece of armor will be really disappointed when it looses is value in such short time after its obtained. Thats one of the places where Yoshi P just needs to stop imo because its killing the game but that goes for all the gears too not just something for the crafters but with the currency etc.

Per the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XXV Digest:

However, due to the fact that advanced materia melding of main stat materia will no longer be possible in Patch 3.2, we’ll be increasing the stats of this equipment, and they will be useable for challenging raids early.

My optimism for it is low, but for the opposite reason.

I expect them to require new materials, that will require gatherers to have at least a full set of i180 red scrip gear, in addition to some sort of new equipment, and come in small quantities from a new rare node. Probably also require some new gathering scrip in order to be able to access the new nodes.

The recipes will be limited by specialists (because specialist recipes are the only reason to be a specialist, as demonstrated exceptionally well in this post). Each set will utilize recipes from at least three different specialists, with the materials for them involving two or more other specialists that aren't the ones that make the final pieces. The minimum crafting and control numbers will likely require at least the i180 red scrip gear, in addition to some sort of new equipment, but you'll need well-melded i170 gear to have any chance of HQing them with any kind of consistency. Maybe a new type of crafting scrip for the materials, to go with the new gathering ones.

Oh, and throw in some demimateria IV that'll come from desynthing Alexander normal gear, just for good measure.

The i180 red script gear (hands, legs, feet, head) can be beat with an HQ triple meld of chimerical gear in terms of usefulness using IV's. Really the only useful gear would be the mainhand and body piece for i180 scrip gear.

Even so, my hopes are also pretty low but its a step forward for crafters regardless cuz right now they really only useful for money and helping new players or housing which few people have...

Everyone here has nice ideas even if I don't agree with some as much as others don't agree with me it seems that we are all contributing with stuff to help improve the game but we need this dev team to actually listen to us and try to balance it out so it becomes enjoyable for all.
This will be my final post here and me contributing since I highly doubt any of our ideas will even be taken into consideration. If that was the case stuff would have been different a long time ago.

I keep going back and forth between the pages in this thread.
Alot of players want content to be rewarding and not get outdated so fast.
Is that possible in this verticle progression envoirment? Is this hamsterwheel way of gaming the future of FFXIV?
Its getting really repetative and old now and is slowly burning out its players.
I have a hard time seeing people jumping for joy everytime a new currency gets realsed with a big smile on their face with the mindstate that everything they worked so hard for is useless again and thats ok because now we get to repeat it again and again and again and again and again.
Thats not just currency wise but overral content. Whats up with 2 ex dungeons every damn time. Formula or not who wants this?
Is the dev team just lazy or are the players really requesting this?
Cause someone must be saying to Yoshi P and his team that this is what players want? The Japanese forums maybe?

I would love to see enjoyable content. Stuff thats rewarding and doesnt get outdated fast and some stuff that never gets outdated at all and has longevity and is rare to obtain and takes alot of time and effort and never gets nerfed. This is ofcourse not for all content but present a few things that will never get nerfed difficulty wise aside from you maybe doing it as a higher level.
For now its a dynasty warriors button mash thats still unrewarding still ridicilous casual friendly where players are beeing underestimated even the casuals are beeing devalued as if they are not capable of playing FFXIV. Content is extremly repetative where where gaming becomes a chore now rather than fun wich backfires on the ideal Yoshi P showed where its about having fun.
How is beeing punished for putting any effort in this game to learn anything and have it nerfed 4 months later fun? If you are going to nerf things in the first place just release them nerfed from the start!

In my opinion Duty Finder will be the death of this game. Its unpersonal and should only be there as a last resort option.
Even the dailys become unpersonal because some of the dailys forces me to play without my friends wich means even if I wanted to help my FC member in a lowlevel roulette I can't because the game limits me from doing so. For now this game teaches you that almost 90% of the content can be soloed through duty finder instead of balancing out to actually try to find a free company make friends get a linkshell etc.

ILvL on gears is also tearing this game apart cause its just a number/stat hunt nothing else. Especially when we have such limited stats to choose from.
Simplicity isnt always the key here its underestimating your players thinking we can't figure out what -10% damage taken or 10% cure potency on gears would actually mean.

Ok Lets say Alexander Savage difficulty is hard and is maybe way too extreme (eventhough I don't think so because its a scripted pattern on mechanics learn them and you will bet Alex you just have to get the 7 other people to understand the patterns with you).
The rest of the content in this game is considered to be very easy wich by default makes clear content way to fast and spend more time AFK than actually doing anything. Even casuals can catch up a bit too fast and feel like there is nothing to do.

World Map is still extremly empty when you have done all the quests what is there to do than Leves, hunts fates maps and gathering? Thats about it 5 things? And should you have all your jobs at 60 fates are eliminated from doing anything. People spend more time in towns doing nothing because of lack of content.

Give us item to grind to force pop big bosses that release good enjoyable gears. Gears that are actually good and not useless with 3.21 because new content will come out.

You shouldnt be forced to craft/gather or even level alternative jobs to play just because you need to have something to do. Example if Ninja is something I want to play and the only job that has my interest then there should be enough content for me to do as Ninja wich we all know there is not. That excuse is so dumb when everyone uses that. Also just to eliminate another annoying reply with maybe you should play something else or take a break. ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO TOOK BREAKS NEVER CAME BACK.

Diadem was a failed attempt it had good potential but it failed really hard. Even if it felt like a dynamis/abyssea combo it didnt have alot of thought to it.

If anyone from the dev team decides to actually read through this whole thread as a FFXI player who sees what content is beeing copied from almost every MMORPG but FFXI why not start to actually use the elements wich made FFXI good.
Ofcourse what I'm talking about is waiting in Jeuno for 6h to party with someone (joke).
Actually the good stuff like stated before. Force popping big bosses, merit system, besieged, flying version of beseiged? stuff similiar to void watch, Medium/hard difficulty on storyline content that requires PLAYERS to actually play with you and it cant beat in 3h like it is here on FFXIV.

Everyone replying here loves the FF brand and enjoyes this game one way or another. We are here arent we? We are beleiving in the product by paying for the subscription. Sometimes trying please all isnt possible but reaching out to a disloyal customer group isnt the right choice either. Blade and Soul got released recently how many of these "casual gamers" didn't jump ships? These are the players you wanted to please and chances are they jumped ship and won't return because they just want whats hot right now.

All of us here yes inluding the three (Ibi Uberhaxed and Velhart) who always want to find something negative in my posts wouldn't be here if we didn't want this game to continue to flourish and be something we can enjoy for many years to come.
So if this thread started isnt something the dev team put out as an attempt/bait to look like they care but actually put some our requests and ideas into motion start with putting up a few ideas for us to vote on. I'm pretty sure must of us can encourage people on our servers to actually go online and vote.

    Thank You

You can't say they have not used ideas from FFXI in this game. As you can see, they do not work as intended out the door. Both games are completely different from each other and what works in one may not work in the other. You don't understand how a system like you propose works in a new player perspective and an end game one in terms of horizontal progression. Making content like that does not work with the raiding scene in terms of balance, it makes it overwhelming for people getting into end game for the first time, the amount of content has to be very limited in comparison to what we get currently, and developers constantly have to check balance in other gear. It is a confusing mess for this game.

It worked in FFXI because it was built from the ground up with the system in mind. FFXI is also almost all open world content, one that a lot of times require a big group to take down. You think just flipping the switch in FFXIV will just make everything magically work because another game built on completely different concepts did it right (kind of). Can even argue that FFXI, while a fun game in it's prime, was a heavily flawed game in it's design and the rose tinted glasses may be getting in the way of you properly analyzing and comparing the structure of the two games.

Some should ask themselves, are they truly tired of a gear treadmill setup, or are they just getting sick of SE going about the same routine to obtain them? Maybe you should offer a way to make it more fun instead of trying to convince them to drastically alter the system to the point that it is a revamp.

I know I am going to rustle some jimmies here, but I actually like having new goals to set upon every six months. I like taking on new challenges at the pace SE is giving us. Not do the same exact content for years to get one item that never drops. Gear to me is but a means to improve myself to get the content done. Then I can worry about my glamour afterwards. It is just the structure I enjoy. You can disagree, but I believe it keeps the game refreshing. Assuming developers make it fun, creative, and balanced. Those three things is what SE is having trouble with lately.

It isn't the system that is the problem, it is just SE lack of understanding the balance of this game's structure, or understanding the community on a casual, midcore, and a hardcore level.

The biggest issue between relic and Alexander is you continue to slap sub stats on gear that primarily make one better then the other. You have the option of doing difficult content you cannot clear. Or getting a relic with terrible substats because the best is locked in AS4. This is a major reason for imbalance. You say the relic is for "casual players" who don't enjoy difficult content, but in return make certain relics better then there savage counter part. Not only was the relic pushed back on release we got (Base Eso forms) in all that time we got a weapon we've already had but with glow...the only true effort was the design of the 210 relic models. The rest was recycled content that we are all sick of.
