Ifrit story mode.. One thousand times.

At an average of 15 minutes per instance (to let quick trials make up for slow dungeons) that is still 250 hours in instances; not something you JUST go and do real quick.
Pretty slick way to get those requirements done.
I'm at 3600 instances "playing normally" lol. so thats no issue for me.
I dont have the DoH or DoL req's tho, so oh well. I'm not much of a crafter or gatherer tho.
Who said anything about "quick"? the Mentor system is meant to be for people that have taken the time to learn the ins and outs of the game. That's not something you "just go and do real quick" it takes time to learn the intricacies of classes/jobs, and yes even typical content. It's meant to be for those that have taken the time to learn and memorize information to help people that come into the game after us. It's not a bad thing to have a system in-game that requires a long-term goal-plan.
I currently have 2,657 completed, and thats just from leveling and doing daily roulettes, really
I ASSUME that it's from the "Dungeon Master/Lifer" achievement set, which is "Complete X instanced dungeons, raids, or trials."
Reached my post limit for the day, so I'm out til tomorrow <3

New player: "So how do you become a mentor?"
Mentor: "You need to complete 1000 dungeons, get 300 commendations and have 1 job from each role at level 60."
New player: "Wow, you did all that?"
Mentor: "Nah I just grinded Ifrit story mode for 250 hours."
I only have about 800 instances after 1 year of playing... No new player is going to be a mentor, that's for sure.
What's weird is that I have more commendations than completed dungeons. 300 seems a bit low for 1000 instances. :0

I've done 4563 dungeons according to the achievement list, and this doesn't count trials, I don't think.

It pretty much says that you do content in DF regularly and are not too rude. If you only did the 1000 duties in premade parties you would not have enough commendations to qualify.
Yeah you're right. I guess it's more a measure of how you get along with strangers (and if you like playing with strangers) than a measure of your skill or experience. The experience part comes from the 1000 instances... and above average skill is not really required for this mentor thing I suppose. Not sure if it's a deliberate design choice or if they just didn't know what kind of test would be suitable for that. A bit unfair that some people can get away with 2 roles and a SMN/SCH off spec but on the other hand they are not asking for expertise on any job. Only that you try it out.
