I think I heard "sundered" in there as a first-time, out-of-game reference, but I'm not sure and wouldn't know who it applied to. That'd be a good one for Titan, I think. Looks like Odin? You could also be "touched" by Garuda's wind, theoretically (and something about "He's been blown by Garuda!" just ... rolls off the tongue ... in a way I don't think they'd intend or approve of.) Perhaps shorn? That's what I been going with with headcanon, wise. Shiva, of course, never tempered anyone that we know of. She didn't need to; you summon what people believe is the deiformed ice goddess of your matron saint and it's gonna turn some heads.

The sylphs have been called both tempered and touched. Tempered is, after all, still a catch-all term. I maintain that this might be because the term was popularized thanks to Ifrit's mass-whooshing of anyone the Amalj'aa bring to him on account of fire spreads and consumes all and he believes he's the one true god.

Then you have a bigger question: Do you stop at the "elemental" primals, who are unique in representing the facets of the Crystal's light? Do you come up with a theoretical Frost-tempering and calling it a day? Or keep going for every primal influence ever? What King Thordan allegedly did to Grinnaux? The theoretical effects of Inferno and Crag from Ravana or Vortex and Whorl from Bismarck? Whatever the hell Zantetsuken is doing to generate Odin-blessings?

We'll see where the Dev. team falls on that one, lol.

Oh yes your right. I think the Scions refer to them as being tempered though. The Sylphs call them touched ones.

Ifrit and Leviathan seem to be the big ones as far as the primals into tempering. Ramuh only bothered because the Sylphs asked, and Titan and Garuda don't seem to need to. Garuda only attempted tempering the WoL after taking a beating and it was mostly to fit her sadistic desire to make her enemy crawl for her.

Infact, apart from the Sylphs I don't think a particularly large part of any of the beast tribes are tempered. I suspect the Primals would find it just a waste of Aether since the beast tribes are pretty devoted apart from outlying groups like the Brotherhood of Ash. In some cases like Novv, the objection isn't in the Primal itself but the fact the repercussions aren't worth it.

I was thinking Warped (in the Vortex), personally.

I really hope they go back an start examining the Primals and their tribes in more depth eventually... I know 4.0 looks set to be an Ala Mhigo adventure, but I'd have loved for it to instead flesh out the existing parts of Eorzea we sit so close to yet never see (like the entire north half of Vylbrand). Heck, I would love to see Grand Companies actually get an accompanying story for the future ranks that can flesh out the nations and their relations with each other, the beast tribes, and so on. Shame we don't really see much in the way of side quests these days...

As far as I'm aware "Sundered" is the word for the one tempered by Odin/Zantetsuken to be his host. The title you get for beating him is "The Unsundered".

Theoretical names for other primal tempered:

    Titan- Weighted
    Garuda- Windswept/Windblown
    Shiva- Frosted/Frostbitten
    Ravana- Wrathed/Hived
    Bismarck- Misted/Clouded
Thordan- Sanctified- from Thordan's in-game dialogue:

Theory: Minfilia is going to be related to the ' regeneration' of the Mothercrystal. Or even become the new Mothercrystal herself.

I'm really hoping we see Alisaie make her triumphant return in this patch. The stinger at the end of 3.1 was, GAH! I want to see her again so badly! Though the focus is on Minfilia, Thancred reappeared in the same patch Krile was introduced. So its not impossible for Alisaie to reappear in the same patch that Minfilia re-enter the plot.

One of the mentions regarded change was "The path the Scions will follow." I wonder what THAT means, hm...

Warring Triad! I'm willing to bet five bucks that the Empire is gonna be involved in that mess somehow.

Overall, its looking like we can *finally* expect some lore and answers regarding Hydaelyn. Its about friggin' time. Of course, they are probably going to be earthshaking revelations...Which fits nicely with the patch title "Gears of Change."

    Hah!

Its hard to explain, but I just don't see Minfilia making a permanent return to the Scions, at least not in the full leader capacity she was before. Might have something to do with the fact Unukalhai is stationed in the Rising Stones solar, and he gives out the EX primal quests. Of course, it could also be a Hard primals situation again, where we'll eventually be required to clear the EX trials in order to continue. Either way, I think Alphinaud is going to serve as the informal leader for the long term. I say informal because the Scions now feel less 'formal organization' and more 'group of True Companions.' This is a GOOD change mind

I'm not particularly pleased by Minfilia's return. Why are we losing the likes of Haurchefant, Estinien and Ysayle only for the Scions to be given a ridiculous amount of plot armour? The end of 2.0 appears to be very anti-climatic in hindsight since we didn't lose anything, really. Everybody but Teledji survived. Yes, Raubahn lost an arm but every single Scion survived. I'm not very happy with that.

In my opinion even the major characters shouldn't be immune to major consequences or death. It makes for a more interesting story overall. Putting that aside, however, I'm eager to see what the story brings us moving forward.

If its any consolation, Y'shtola's trip to the lifesteam gave her blindness and an allegorical cancer so she might die in a few years (give or take), Also, Minfilia might not be dead, but I don't think she's gonna rejoin the Scions, if anything its more likely that she might wind up to be shall we say "severed" from the material realm if that splash art is any indication (well either that or she's just gonna go l'Cie on us, making the most polarizing character int he game even more polarizing by having elements of the most polarizing game int he franchise)

Exactly, I want them to have the stones to kill off someone at the least, from the Scion's (no, Moony doesn't count) and have them stay dead. And ignoring my dislike for Minfilia, seeing as they have some soft spot for her (both dev team and a fair amount of community people... who knows why) I think she was ripe for that.
