I was thinking the same thing. Ruin hits like a feather pillow. Why not let the conj/white mage throw a few Stone II's instead?

A bit late, but, I would just like to point out that at low levels, healers restore 50~100% of HP in one hit, vs multiple needed for ACN (and often they start spamming at 90%). It's still better for the healer to dps, drop out of cleric to throw a heal, then get back into it.

I've been the horror story lately. I keep falling asleep while playing. .___.

Newbie level 58 DRK in The Vault. Didn't use Unleash on trash, didn't have Provoke (nor anything else, as "first tank class") cross-classed, lost threat constantly, didn't have Darkside on, didn't use cooldowns, did stupid things like dance before every pull. I initiated a kick, rejected. Asked for Darkside to be on, DPS said no because of Grit. Got kicked instead.

Go figure.

A lot of people just don't understand other jobs, or don't care to understand other jobs. While I like playing as SCH when I'm healing, that doesn't stop me from learning how all jobs work in case I need to queue as a tank/DPS somewhere. If you're not going to play as a certain job, or are just getting starting playing it, learn how it plays and take free advice. You might learn a thing or two about the job you never even considered.

Short horror story:

tank is either slow load of viewing cutscene, doesnt matter but i stskin the dps and myself, tank pops in, i stskin him, barrier drops, i use protect anddddd......

the buff icon for protect doesnt display, and ive switched to my heal hot bar and.... nothing is displaying, no icons, only vague mp costs
everyone is floating, no sound
i try to throw a noct shield on before pull but no idea if it worked, luckly manage to switch to diurnal before he pulls but no idea if it works as a.bene doesnt seem to do anything

thank god i put cure/physick/bene on the same hotbar place so i can memory use it

tank pulls all and i manage to keep it going without anything but bene and bene2 as all other things are just, unuseable.

and then just as its all about to die system crashes and it says corrupted data/cant read hdd/ blah blah

tbh i wouldve loved the challenge of a icon-less run seeing how well i knew my hotbar but implosion had other ideas

Sadly, this isn't so out of the ordinary for new tanks that are DRKs. Plus, you know you had a bad one if they don't even attempt to keep Darkside on. In a way they are saying: "hey everyone I'm going to play gimped dank knight, and lockout the best skills of my job by not turning this on". Just having the minor cooldowns cross-class can make a big difference for healers, and nothing else says someone is completely new to tanking if they don't have Provoke after level 50 for that matter.

The ignorance of some taking advice from others is just unbelievable, whom probably have a lot more experience than they do at the job/role. In a leveling instance this late in the game, one should expect that it's not everyone's first job rodeo.

As a healer:
Solo healing Leviathan ex mode when the other healer + 3 DPS and a tank fell off after the first body slam when Levi casts ultimate... We managed to kill Levi with me tanking the tail lol. I'm just glad that I have a fairy to heal the DRK at the head.

As a DPS:
I was helping my DRK friend with The Aetherochemical Research Facility and got stuck with a an extremely bad SCH healer with low item lvl and never paid attention to the HP bars of us DPS throughout the mini boss and mob fights. When we got to the final boss, our HP got extremely low at one point and so I switched to my healer mode xD. I had to Resurrect many times too and it was a miracle that we managed to defeat it the first time.

Look at what Savage did to the meta! Squishy pure STR tanks full of hardcore hubris they fail harder than a newbie. HOW??? “Casuals are for babies. I did this so many times I don't need CDs, not even if they are attacks cause that would be sub-optimal/too much for this trash.“

Heck, I already have to deal with 2 “hardcore“ WHMs in my FC who absolutely cannot be trusted with a final sting. DPS #1 and yet they attack the wrong bee and/or just plain suck at outputting damage, not to mention never keep the tank (usually me) topped off even as a paladin. There wasn't even a single Regen everytime. I never had this issue with anyone else, just with those incompetent fools who cant even do their own shtick right. I just know if I ever get back to serious raiding, I will never let them in as heals, unless I wanted a challenge my already thin patience with them.

I'm not sure why Final Sting is an issue as tank because it never is to me even if i'm not 100% HP. Just focus target, and when you see it being cast with it not dead yet, pop your immunity (Hallowed Ground) then or the strongest CD you have left. I've seen 100% HP PLDs fall to their face because they think they can eat it all. Although a Scholar could shield for the mechanic, still it's best to prep a cooldown for it if you know the DPS isn't going to be there.

Yesterday on AST I got Copperbell. On AST. I had no cards!!!

But, the tank was appropriately geared, and using cooldowns, so I actually spent most of the dungeon in cleric stance dpsing my heart out. The dps were new but both of them performed capably.

The horror was dcing during one or the biggest pulls of the dungeon. I kept throwing Benefic on the tank even though everything was frozen, until I got booted out. They didn't kick me but they did get to the boss without me and I think there was at least one more pull. I think the THM may have had physick, so thank goodness for that.

Yeah hallowed ground would save me if they both stung me at the same time. Unfortunately as I've already stated especially in that quote, the one leading cause of my demises is that those hubris twits are not keeping me healed up. So I get stung and auto attacked by one or all of the 3~6 other enemies, 18K MAX HP, 7K gone to 0.8K then 0 in 2 seconds without CDs because again, those idiots expect my CDs to save me when I had to use them all to ensure their negligence prior to the final sting doesn't kill me, and then bam I got dead. Easily preventable if they done their part to start with but NOPE. I mean I have no problem healing/stacking barriers through that as a scholar in 170s with a Vit ring and points all in piety, and these idiots were in 200~210 Gordian gear with maximum mind. SAVAGE GORDIAN GEAR WITH MAXIMUM MIND! Unbelievable!

Last time, I holmanged and went the whole 6seconds at 1HP.
