Why would you ever use Doton over Raiton?

While I'm here, am I correct to assume that if I'm grouped with a WAR, I don't have to use Dancing Edge? The reason I ask is that I only display my own debuffs on the enemy, so I kinda have to trust every WAR that I come across to use Eye instead of Path.

While that is correct, I sometimes start with Dancing Edge if the WAR is MT. This applies the slashing debuff at the start while allowing the WAR to gain some Enmity from Butcher's Block.

But you turned 240 potency into 360. Raiton does that without the critical, without requiring the boss stays in the whole time, or lives the duration of the dot.

I don't think anyone is debating that Doton is better than Raiton in single target scenarios. Doton, especially with Kassatsu, has its uses under AoE conditions.
