I think in Japan PS3 versions of games still sell more then the PS4 version because they do not adopt new game consoles as fast as the west.

Mmos will always be on the lower end of graphics so they can cater to a wide audience such as ps3, ps4, lower end pcs than just the high end gaming pcs. But I have heard ps4 will have some graphics updates to the game in 3.2 or later. The support for ps3 and ps4 could be dropped and then the graphics could be pushed even further but that wouldn\\'t be the best for the game. 3 sec load times on my pc vs a 15-20 sec load time on ps4. It was struggling for sure since it probably wasn\\'t built with a mmo in mind.
Also ps3 is not the reason for so little content. Some team members are now working on FFXV and KH3 so the FFXIV team is smaller than back in 2.0. Yoshi P even said that this is the new norm and it\\'s a staffing issue whenever they cannot turn out even more content...
Any proof to the claims that PS3 is a small player base and that it is holding the game back?
ps3 has its issues running ff14 but nowhere near that bad.. only thing i had problems with was the slow cutscene load times almost always locked you out of boss fights in main scenario dungeons.. and the fact couldnt see s rank hunts other than that very little issues playing it on ps3.. noticed a big difference when upgraded to ps4 but still enjoyed playin most of the time on ps3
You are also probably overestimating the effect PS3 has on improvement on this game.
I am pretty sure most problems are more bound to "server data limitations" and "not enough staff" rather than PS3 limitations.
Except for stuff like more things showing up on our UI (the TP bar with no numbers is 100% problem of PS3) I wouldn't expect graphic buff like so much neded Hi-res textures or us getting more retainers or more retainer space for free.
i moved to the PC version from PS3 a few months back. and while i will admit that i think the PC version is better graphic wise.
the ps3 version is playable and not bugged and unfished. i know as i have played it from 2.1 to about a month into HW.
i'd like to point out is that a lot of the big issues (inventory space, housing ext.) are all relying on severs not the consoles.
PS3's suffer from long load times when there is a lot to load.
IF ANYTHING PS3 PLAYERS SUFFER FROM THE PS3 LIMITATIONS

The PS3 version should never have existed to begin with, if I'm blunt. Sorry if that offends anyone, but really, why did they think it was a good idea to release this game for PS3 AND PS4? Shoulda been a no-brainer that the PS3 would hold it back a lot.
Short answer is Japan. People there still play a lot on PS3 because they don'tvjump on the latest console midel just for the sake of it. PS4 is only begining to have a half-decent pool of games, there was no use having it before for anyone valuing their money a bit when it comes to gaming.
SE will drop PS3 when its playerbase becomes low enough to justify it, not before. Their estimations were around the release of 4.0 (not released on PS3) then support totally dropped around 5.0, but we have yet to get a new official statement on that
seeing as how the ps4 is selling less in japan for reasons(unknown) one can surmise that ps3 is still the heavy use console. right now tho, the only ones who know who is playing on what would be SE, so any comment made by anyone is pointless.I'm not expecting FFXV graphics but with how Console games are evolving fast this game is going to look ugly.
Ps3 isn't a large base, anybody has number how many ps3 users? It won't matter because the ps3 people are going to buy a ps4. However the subs are low and ps3 limitations doesn't matter. You see how many complaints of the same content? PS3 is why
