Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

Bad players exist in every roll. Just easier to hide as a bad dps than it is a bad healer/tank. It's sadly the game we play. Not even gonna touch the parser debate considering people feel a small group who almost 99% already abuse them would abuse in game parsers seems to be an ok reason not to have ones.

If you don't know your class come level 60 dungeons then you are literally a hindrance to the group. If you are fine with doing that to people thats fair enough, I however feel it would be unfair to others if I didn't know how to play my job in a dungeon. You'll get called an elitist and toxic, but in the end I personally feel not knowing what the hell you are doing and expecting people to be ok with it is far more toxic and entitled attitude.

I get people may not be as good as some at the game. I get that people may have reasons to not be good at the game. When one of those reasons are, " I could pop enochian but I'd rather I didn't because I'm lazy" then to be honest I don't think you should be allowed to play the game at all. Also I don't get the whole "Some people take the game too serious" or the excuse that casual players just play for fun. Well it isn't fun when you get stuck with someone who just wants to do 400 DPS at i200 because they have no idea how to play. Thats DPS that was ARR numbers.

In DF if you find the performance of others acceptable or not is rather irrelevant. You have 3 choices. Vote Dismiss, leave or just ignore it and just role with it. There is nothing wrong with suggesting politely that they would be better off using a particular mechanic they are ignoring but if they choose not to there is nothing you can do to make them change and trying to insist on it can be seen as harassment.

Personally I assume whenever I join a roulette that the competence of those I'm grouped with is going to be unreliable. If I'm not up for dealing with poor players I don't queue for DF.

At the end of the day standards don't mean squat in random groups. This is true for all MMOs.

They turned against you because of the way you addressed it. You caused a problem for the group, so at least 2 people thought you were in the wrong.

Yes, you did start off with a straight call-out, which was fine. Yeah, he replied like a jerk. But you fell for his bait and started sounding just as antagonizing as he did. Don't fall for it, ignore him and move on. Vote kick him, leave or just get it done, really.

They are acceptable in the case of roulette because you can't exactly ask roulette to give you good DPS.

You been here since release, but low post count, lurk much? Because many folks here are from WoW. Some of us come from FFXI and before that PSO or EQ or whatever. Mmmhmm WoW players are pretty bad/spoiled. Heck, Yoshida stated that there's no real "elemental system(just fire and ice)" because of WoW players or something like that. Apparently WoW has no mechanics like that..

if someone is making a suggestion about how you can improve your dps.......then accept it?? at least it wasn't "your dps sux, you should go die"
it was a simple questions - maybe the BLM had some reason not to use it? if not, well...take the suggestion and use it...or is taking advice and improving your DPS, a sin, now-days? or was his/her pride, hurt?

This reaction comes to mind; but instead of evidence, it's suggesting how people can get better.

I think it has to do with party size. You take one friend with you and you basically rule any dungeon group as long as you're fast at kicking. In groups of 5 or 6 people it wouldn't be as easy to get away with bad performance or behaviour.

I strongly disagree with the notion that dps are the only ones getting away with bad performance. They do get noticed and called out. Just see the topic of this thread. The underperformer was with a friend and that's why she never got kicked. Tanks and healers also get away with things depending on the group. Honestly the minimal standard is very low for them too but if they happen to fail, wiping isn't any more serious a concequence as the run taking long is.

All roles have bad players and all roles can sometimes get away with it, but people love glorifying tanks and healers and making their job seem super challenging and important compared to dps despite having an easier rotation and very few role checks in dungeons.

OP, I'm not sure what kind of an answer you were expecting to your question. "Because I'm a baddie/lazy" or "I forgot" or "What's enochian" or perhaps "I don't have it yet"? At that point you would probably want to point out that enochian is a dps increase and shoud be used. The thing is, you could have just said it in the first place without prying on their motives. Give advice and drop it at that, and you will avoid a lot of confrontations in the future. Just a tip.

I just wonder did anyone of u noticed that fractal / neverreap are first lvl60 dungeons and fire4 is lvl60 skill. If that blm had pretty fresh gear I would suppose she had no practice at all yet and didnt understand how to make the best of use of enochian. I would only suggest about using fire4/bliz4 in that case, but if it was ex roulette or blm had i190+ I would do same as OP and ask "why arent u doing your job?"Why tank has to keep aggro and dps non stop and healer keep everyone alive and dps in spare time when dps can't dps?

This Is like what happened in Pharos Hard yesterday.
Bard wasn't using Minuet, and we were doing massive pulls, they were single targeting, but not doting...so not many Rain of Death procs.
I asked once just "Did you do your level 52 quest?" Got blanked. We carried on to the last pull with all the bomb machines, they stopped attacking at all.

Immediately the rest of the group vote kicked them. So It wasn't just my patience that ran out.
