I wouldn't call it amazing... it is useful, but it could be a little bit better.
As you said, I also have it on my SCH hotbar, so even if the potency per tick got increased to 30, it wouldn't affect the balance much.
Making it 230 potency dot seems reasonable to me. 20 more potency than Stone III seems about right.
Aero is a good skill because of its initial hit. (Acc problems indeed, but even so...)
WHM has Stone III with 210 potency. It's better to use Stone III than Aero if you're only considering 1 GCD. If you consider using Aero+Fluid Aura in the same GCD you have 350 potency against 210 from Stone III in the same GCD.
SCH can benefit from Aero since it's 200 potency is even better than Broil's 170. If you consider the 150 potency from Energy Drain, it's even better. Even Ruin II + ED is better than Broil...
AST has Malefic II which is 200 potency. So is Aero. But Aero is interesting for AST (and WHM) because of it's instant hit. In some mechanics, like pushing remedy bombs away from gray bombs in Pharos Hard, the instant hit of Aero is super useful. It's also useful to use Aero (or combust) and then switch Cleric Stance off.

I'd imagine it will remain at 200 potency until we get a trait (*cough*QuickStoneskin*cough*) for it. Buffing Aero directly would be increasing Scholar and Astrologian DPS, too (with the former not really needing more help as it stands).
That said, I still use it regularly. Allows some oGCD weaving, and considering the MP issues a WHM has when going all out on DPS, 10 less potency for a nearly 200 reduced MP cost makes it worth it in my eyes (comparing it to Stone III).
Wouldn't hurt it if ticked for 30 pot instead of 25. That'd give it an overall potency of 230 (vs. Aero 2's 250) which would give incentive to use it outside of something to pop when dodging an AoE, instead of Popping Aero3->2 and mashing Stone III.

I wish they removed AERO from SCH to make them loose dps and be in line with the other healers....
They did it with SMN when they use to be able to use thunder... So i think SCH needs the same treatment and have it aero removed from them too
they also removed thunder from white mage and scholar :/ and in the same patch reduced the potency from holy from 240 to 200 (and nerfed holy even more with 3.0) :O
Stone III is already 40 more potency than Broil while being the exact same mana cost and cast time. Aero is equivalent for all healers, so leave it alone and let it keep missing ineffectually across all the classes.
Though to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Ruin taken off the ACN cross-class skills and replaced with Bio. Because no one uses Ruin unless they absolutely have to, and even then they feel bad about it.
