    That's not the whole story.

Craftsmanship/Magic Craftsmanship raise the chances of successful synth attempts, as well as raise the values of quality and progress that you get on each successful synth. As Technolust said, certain recipes benefit from craftsmanship (and the rest from magic craftsmanship), but it's not currently known if recipes get full benefit from one and none from the other, or if recipes simply lean on one or the other.

Also, raising certain element stats are said to help stabilize related recipes. This would theoretically benefit the synth in the same way control would.

To give you practical (if not obvious) advice, if you are going unstable/sparking during your synths, raise your control. If you're doing fine with stability, try to raise your (magic/)craftsmanship, so that you can be more successful in each synth attempt.

Once you're a high ranking crafter, and attempting to make hq mats and gear of lower rank, you'll definitely want to go craftsmanship over control, since you won't have a control problem for recipes so far below your rank.

Hope that rounds out your crafting a bit more. Cheers.

Respectfully I am going to have to disagree, based on a few observations I've made. I used to have 150 points into wind, as that is one of the main shards CRP uses. I would destabilize wind on almost every synth, and I had a a lot of gear that had craftsmanship & magic craftsmanship. Soon as I switched to a more control based setup this problem went away.

With control I can also hit standard even if the synthesis is unstable. I'd succeed much more often, and have less issues with destabilization.

These are personal observations, I'm not saying I'm right nor am I saying Jet is wrong. I am merely offering a different aspect on synthesis.

Just to add on my previous comment.

    A. Among recipes in the game, there are those for which the rate of progress and chance of success are increased by higher Craftsmanship, and those for which they are determined by Magic Craftsmanship. Control helps to reduce the occurrence of aetherial sparking (see below), and exerts its influence over both types of recipes just mentioned.

All recipes, however, have set attribute requirements. Attempting a recipe with attributes below those required will result in lessened progress and quality, even for successful actions.
