Field Leves - Failure Rate

I'm R42 now, both Botanist and Miner, so I been doing R40 field leves now for 7 ranks. When I first started doing these @ R35, I noticed quite a hike in no-harvests and damaged attempts, and I attributed that to my entry rank for this area. It's now very apparant that SE has dummied up these rates, as I continue to experience a large spike in these, vs. when I simply grind these same areas.

My question is, was this really necessary ><

I've never had a large failure rate in gathering leves, my experience is that they are the same, I generally do not damage items, so I do not see your point.

I am currently rank 36 botanist and generally only break things which are harder to get like mahogany logs and certain feathers.

if what your finding starts with low dura, its a gem/hard log like mohogony or the like

it has nothing to do with the area in general being harder

This could very well be the case. The leve, in particular that I experience the highest failure rate is Reading the Rings, which is, in fact, mahogony. Thanks for pointing this out, and my apology for failing to recognize this.

Two things that may also help you out:

- Watch out for gatherer's limitations. If you are damaging an item where you would have expected to have finished successfuly harvesting it, you may have been working too far into the anti-RMT territory. 150 successful gathers in one session will have you start failing. 250 will have you continuously fail.

- The special items for the leves such as "Wormless Lauan Log" or "Unknotched Mahogany Log" are treated as different items than their normal-harvesting equivilants by the game. They typically don't damage the remainder bar as quickly, but will often take two hits to harvest rather than just one, even if the normal version of the item can be harvested in one hit.

Mahogany logs are always located in like the first 1/5 of the bar so if you learn what the remainder is for a mahogany log and hit there you will greatly improve your chances of grabbing mahogany. Not sure if you need to be a certain rank for the first part of my statement to apply however.

Leves are unafected by this, so this is not the case

I just hit 43 in both Botanist and Miner and noticed a noticeable increase in success for the leves you mentioned.
