Please don't gate scrips behind folklore gathering items in 3.2.

No...I'm pretty clearly saying that something farmed via crafting should be spendable without being dependent upon a fully-farmed gathering class. Pretty unsensational and pretty reasonable, in my opinion.

Why do you need crafting mats... If you are too incapable of working to get crafting mats, but you find better gear too enticing, then get the red scrip gear that ISN'T crafted.

I'm not entirely sure how you expect to craft end-game crafting gear. I don't know what your definition of a fully-farmed gathering class is, but it is far from mine. The minimum stats you need to gather ooids are achieved by a HQ gather set (which cost almost nothing, since you are a crafter and all). As well as a minimal amount of materia...that you don't even need to overmeld for. There is nothing "gated" about this system. If it wasn't scripts it would have been something else. Crafting & Gathering have always gone together.

Pretty clear you're not understanding the point. In 3.2 or above, we will probably eventually see a brand new color of scrips. What I'm asking for is that they no longer require gathering tokens to spend those scrips. For all the talk about how they're "just like DoW/DoM tomes" they really aren't, because you didn't need a gathered token to spend Philo on crafting mats back in 2.x. You didn't need a gathered token to spend Esoterics on gear. Why is it acceptable that a crafter's tome system be limited as such? For a system supposedly meant to help new players, it adds another layer of tedium and grinding, or another layer of spending.

You have to understand that I'm speaking to 3.2, or whatever numbered patch introduces new scrips. So the argument that "they're not gated now" doesn't have merit, because I was speaking to when red scrips launched.

I think you're confused. I've never spoken once about needing gathering red scrips for anything. I'm talking about the need of gathering tokens (ooids) in order to buy crafting mats. We never needed gathering tokens to buy Peacock Ore, Coke, Potash, etc with DoW/DoM tomes. Why do we need them to buy Purified Coke, Dryad Sap, Moonbeam Silk, etc with what are essentially the crafter's tomes?
