(Is that another one of those XI terms that didn't make it over to XIV? I could have sworn I've seen people use it before).
Too bad race-specific clothing is a stupid idea to start with. If someone can adequately explain why it's literally impossible for a tailor to replicate pants or a camisole for different body types, I'll change my tune.

Right? Seems extremely hypocritical to criticize the scions under such circumstances. If you really want to go out of your way to demonize someone clearly meant to be heroic (since that's the heart of this thread), how about the WoL that apparently lets EX primals get summoned over and over just so they might be able to get a technicolor horse or said pieces of a god so they can have a shinier weapon or lots of gil only for themselves and their non-scion friends?

You have no idea how vehemently I disagree with you. The races in this game are stupidly homogenized, anything to differentiate them would be welcome at this point.

    But, hey, opinions.

Not everybody engages in that sort of behavior. (I sure don't.) Are there people who engage in that kind of behavior? Of course there are, but it's not fair to judge individuals by the actions of the majority.

That said, the Warrior of Light is established as a bit fight-happy in the DRK 30-50 line, but I doubt they'd go so far as to allow the world to get killed for a sparklepony. Primals getting summoned isn't our fault anyway. We aren't personally responsible for the summonings, in fact it's supposed to be our job to prevent them in the first place, but the actions of the city-states often drive the beast tribes to it in desperation. (I've brought up how terrible the Scions are at their stated job of preventing summonings in the first place and inevitably throwing us at the Primal of the week, but nobody wants to hear it.)

Are there greedy (player) Warriors of Light? Yes there are! ... but not everyone has millions of gil to throw around, and not everyone kills primals time and again for sparkleponies or shiny weapons.

Well, we don't actually fight Ifrit (Extreme) ten dozen times, as far as lore goes we fight him the once. Just like Vishap isn't constantly knocking on Ishgards door, at best one is using the Echo to relive the past. Huh, we have a superpower and are abusing it for material gain. Paragons of virtue indeed... I mean Wanderer's Palace isn't being occupied by hostile Mamool Ja every day, that happened once, and we cleared them out and perhaps found 10,000 Gil along the way... Then we bust out the Echo and repeat that encounter a hundred times, and now we've gotten 1,000,000 Gil. We're effectively destroying the Eorzean economy, then... No wonder people in Ul'dah wanted us dead...

I haven't felt like this much of a jerk since I abused day resets in Majora's Mask to con a humble banker...

I wouldn't have to kill Ramuh over and over in my head like a madperson if Hydaelyn blessed my lots as strongly as she supposedly blesses my character.

If you consider you're doing a lot of that in your head, and you're using DF/PF for it, you might even consider the WoL extremely mentally unstable or terribly lonely, since you're essentially creating new partners/companions/party members out of thin air each time you start a new set of reimaginings.

Interesting that now some see us as the cheapskates. So after all that we have done for Eorzea, we are not allowed to buy some nice things for ourselves? And like others have said not everyone has that much gil and I am quite sure that all these ponies are nothing more than game features. Not everything we do is part of the main story, some things needs to be done because we are playing a game. (Like defeating primals over and over again..) Its the same with all those dungeons runs. How could we run some of them again and again after we killed the bosses, for example Steps of faith.

In the end its not only the Scions that are cheapskates but the city states too..If they don't have enough gil or other items to give to the WoL as a reward (we are the only ones in the story; there are not thousands of us that they have to pay ) than I see a very bad financial future for them..

And there could be more ways to show their gratefulness towards us than gil. Instead of having to farm for our own chocobo, they could have giving it to us as a present. Instanced personal housing could have been another present from the city states, especially after we went into the enemy base and defeated Ultima for them..(Sadly since we don't have such housing system we wont get that U_U) Maybe they could have shown us a very rare mount at the beginning of the quest/story line that is a present for the leader, but after we defeat the big bad story boss they give it to us. Something like that would make me feel much better. But instead we get some gil and maybe a weapon or a minion. It does not even have to be a great reward at the end of every story quest. But defeating Ultima, Thordan and other big threats should really reward us way more. Heck at the beginning of the story where we were still a new adventurer, but we already get free access to inn rooms.

But now we have to pay for a lot ourselves. It would have been alright if we were only simple adventurers that finished some odd jobs. Especially if you helped some poor people. But right now we are more than that..we are world saviors and without us, many people would have lost their lives to the fakes gods and all the other monsters and enemies we took down..So at least give us something after we defeat a big boss..

[We get a black chocobo from our dear friend just as a little thank you, which is more than we get from a lot of main story quests...that is kinda sad..]

And I am sorry, but for an organization that has such a low budget, they can make some fine clothes and weapons for the other members..The staff that we delivered to Tataru seems to be made from very rare items and even the druid leader was surprised about it. But somehow I should believe that they barely have any money? And its also not our problem to get them the money..That's the job of our dear manager. We are not allowed to speak what we truly think about the situation in front of the leaders (I know its a game restriction) so why should we gather the money?

Throwing our own life on the line again and again should already be enough..And please lets not forget that we did help with new recruits and our battles inspired some people to help in the cause.

If this would have been a game were we could make all the decisions ourselves than maybe I would have given them some gil and said: “Here since you are not even able to fund your own organization I will give you my hard-earned greedy gil and now please defeat all of those monsters yourself, I need some vacation.” I am quite sure that they would have been killed but hey they have the gil . But if keeping my gil to myself and “only” helping them with killing our enemies makes me a greedy and bad WoL, well than I will gladly be one.

[Even if the selling of those items from our dear fake gods would be truly canon (not sure that they are) I would not feel bad about it. We are human beings with needs and even after all we did we have to pay for nearly everything and even still have to pay Rowena after all the money she had made through us, so why should I feel bad for earning money? All the gil we get from the main quests is used to repair our gear, buy new weapons and clothes so we may survive the next fight, for basic items like food and so on. So I don't feel bad that Tataru has to do some odd jobs too sometimes, since its still much better than fighting all those things and her life I would say is still much easier than ours. ]

In short: I don't care if we don't get much from the common people, but the Scions and especially the city states should have enough to get us more than a little gil, maybe even some nice rare items. And since they don't, I also wont feel bad about earning my own money and keeping it to myself.

It's not so much that we're greedy, it's that we're effectively super stars. Helping the Scions amounts to charity work, you don't ask for pay when you're helping out at the homeless shelter... That is what's greedy...

Grand Companies are the real pricks in all this; We enlisted. That's a job, not a hobby. OK, they gave us a Chocobo Companion, but that's about it... The Seals they pay us in are worthless, what's more they don't even have us doing anything... That's like having Iron Man join the US military, and have him work on pest control (FATEs) while paying him in Rupees... It's nonsense... Can't wait for that Grand Company specific content they promised...

    .
Well I am not sure if slaying fake gods can be really seen as charity work. ^^ Would they ask us if we want to also help with building up a homeless shelter or with cooking for the poor than this would be our charity. Defeating enemies is our main work and its even a really dangerous job. In the end we also dont have much of a choice. If we say no than it will be our fault if a lot of people die thanks to the primal so its not really something we freely choose to do. (Or atleast only partly choose to do so) It is even acceptable if we would throw away our life for the "greater good" and I am quite sure that even with all the things we did before the people would start to resent us a little if we say no to fighting against evil just because we dont want to do that anymore.

And I agree about the Grand Companies. The bad thing is: They did not even give us the chocobo for free. If I remember it right than we had to pay for it with the seals...

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

What about the beast tribes? The "pay" is similar but at least they seem to be thankful for us helping them out.
