I've seen people asking for memorials for lost FC mates and current events like the Paris shootings last year as well. I don't want to play a game full of morbid memorials that have no place in a fantasy world; I want to play a game that lets me not think about the awful stuff that goes on in real life for a while.
Then go play another game.

Final Fantasy XIV isn't just your preferred form of escapism, and there are millions playing the game just like you. Many of them may have lost friends to real life tragedy, and that small digital memorial might be one of the only pieces they have of them left. At least for a time.

Let them be.
