Void Ark Morbols- Did I do it wrong?

I just went into VA for the 4th time this week trying to get a tank drop and I'd like to know if I screwed up or not. We were doing the trash encounter after Cetus where you have to tank moths, pop knots and finally kill morbols. Every other time I've done it, regardless of where each group is set (ABC or ACB), it went like this-

Right side grabs right side moths and the morbol that pops by the entrance. Back grabs back moths and the morbol that pops by the exit. Left grabs left side moths and the morbol that pops on the left. You know it's your morbol, because it spawns immediately after your second moth dies.

Ok. So this time I'm in A group, they send me to the left. I grab the moths. We kill them before B and C. Morbol pops on the left, I grab it, and suddenly I'm fighting for aggro with the back (B) group's tank. Their moths are still up, but he's trying to tank them as well as my morbol. I yank it back, and suddenly my group is screaming at me that there's a morbol loose as C group has killed their moths and the morbol that has spawned at the entrance is eating them. One of the other tanks grabs it while I'm trying to explain that I got on the correct morbol as far as I knew. It's a bit rough but no one dies. Afterwards like 4-5 people jump on me telling me I wasn't paying attention to my waypoint, I'm blind, I'm an idiot, etc. At this point I was considerably rattled and sick of Void Ark, so I left.

Was I wrong? Were they wrong? How is it supposed to be done?

Different groups sometimes do it differently so if they put up way marks I'd go by the way marks and not your accustomed position.

But they shouldn't have jumped down your throat for it, that was rude and toxic. I can't fault you for leaving.

The waymarks were set where the knots spawned, not where the morbols spawned, so I'm unsure how I was supposed to know they wanted me to pick up a different morbol. That's what I'm confused about.

I'm always confused af in that part, I always kinda assume the right group gets front entrance, left group gets left side and back group gets the back morbal.

None of the tanks should have been tanking where the knots spawn, since it's normally ranged dps' job to switch over or perhaps become dedicated, to stomping out either one or both of the knots within their reach. Just make sure to "stake your claim" of where you're going to be next time and I don't think you will have an issue.

A groups morbol doesn't spawn until that group has killed their bugs so that's your answer.

Each party starts with two mobs. When those two mobs die, one of the other parties gets a morbol.
It's an alliance coordination mechanic.

Honestly, I never knew there was a pattern to the morbol pops, only that they happen. I just provoke whichever one spawns closest to my alliance and plant my flag on it, that hasn't let me down yet. There are two other tanks that can handle the second morbol, although there was one time I had to go save the healers from the second roaming morbol nobody picked up...

if they put the marker where the knots are, I get the closest morbol clockwise from there.

It seems like this whole segment is confusing for everyone, since I've seen this fall apart pretty frequently when morbols pop.
