PLD is stronger than even this. I pulled more (1056) as OT on A1S Faust 2 weeks prior to 3.1 ( I remember this because the next week I went full DRK for raid after that). Paladin's best role is as OT, with the present meta. The best possible Tank Damage Combination will put PLD as OT whenever that job is present. Yes this would lower the output for a War by a bit, but that decline is not as significant as the drop in damage output when you move PLD into the MT role.

Don’t worry, we will all have something new to bicker about in 3.2.

I’m going to jump out on an extreme and predict that the content will somehow be spec’d so that the inclusion of a Warrior tank will somehow be less than ideal. (sorry, I’m in a “watch the world burn mood”)

Look to the word "tank" for guidance - just picture a tank in your mind for a moment, what key features do you imagine? Sure, the armor plating, but also the fucking cannon strapped on top.
If you want to stack armor, vit, more shielding at the expense of your cannon, you become a "wall", not a "tank". It's about learning your limits and balancing strength and vit to stay alive while still contributing to damage done. A tank doesn't roll on to the battle field with a "shoot me!" Sign where its cannon would be and simply miraculously draw fire while the infantry dishes out damage. A tank rolls on to the battle field with a giant death dealing boom cannon that is so terrifying that the entire enemy army wants to kill it before it kills them - the tank armor is only there to stop that from happening.

So, go ahead - Stack vit and do sub par, cry that my bard pulls hate off you, but don't call yourself a 'tank'…you're 'walling'

@Heghmoh: That's actually the best metaphor I've ever seen someone use to compare a "Tank". Although I get the picture already, that metaphor would have done it if I didn't. On a sidenote though I feel it worth mentioning that your bard doesn't have anything to worry about. I can hold my hate. =)

Sorry I may have been generalizing and making associations with recent duty finder horror experiences

Meh...... in some way I actually like the content and how the game pushes everyone to dps. I love how the meta changed from the casual meta where dps just dps, tanks just tank, and blahblahblah. I feel like this is a test to how you use your skills even with good gear. With that being said I've learned a major lesson playing league of Legends. Stacking only health shows no benefit at all. Zero, nothing blaaah, you get shun on. In that's in ever MMORPG. Reach the content threshold and go crazy on str. I don't agree with the more str you have the more you mitigate attacks. That's just lies unless you have lifesteal. How ever in FFXIV your life depends on how well your healer can heal you. You pop defensive cd to help your healer keep you alive. You have to use some kind of sense when playing MMORPGs. You build to the situation and class not just the job. That way content and skills are optimize.

I like the current meta. It separates the great from the good and the willing from the lazy.

I'd say it exposes the Leeroys among the good tanks and the lazy-minded sheep among the more resourceful players. It has become far too easy to lean on "more DPS" as a substitute for finding ways to survive a big hit, keep enemies looking at you as the actual DPS do what they're supposed to do and Healers do what they do best.

Why I love the new content. Everyone is responsible. Can't just blame healers and tanks anymore for failed objectives. Why it such a huge fuss going on now. People hate being exposed.

Actually a responsible and good tank will carry a mix of strength and vit gear and know when to put on what mix, or ask their healer if they want more/less. Same goes for tank stance, know when to go Shield Oath or Sword Oath. Protip: the answer is not "always Shield Oath."
