I admit that I started as a female miqo'te back in beta phase 2. Think a friend of mine (who stopped playing after one day) had created a fem roe, but he didn't make her particularly attractive, and I didn't really give a thought of being a roegadyn myself. That is, until Merlwyb was introduced in beta phase 3 and she pretty much knocked the breath out of me. Thing is, fem roe takes a bit time to get used to. I felt awkward and strange as I hopped around on a fem roe alt, so tall and so-very-different from the short feminine and adolescent cutesy miqo'te. But once I went through the emotes on female roegadyn, I was pretty much sold on spot and remade her for phase 4+launch.

To me midlander hyurs, miqo'tes and au ras always looked like pre-teens or teens. Seeing one in a bikini makes me feel a little uncomfortable, to be honest. But then again, I might just be allergic to skin as I like to 'stay classy' on my roe. x')

And as some people have said, most roe NPCs tend to be on the ugly side; sickly skin colours, freaky pale eyes, grey hair etc. Not what I personally find super attractive. Same can be said to elezens (pale lipgloss on a male elezen, anyone?). But you see more hyur/miqo'te/au ra players, so you don't judge the whole race because of an NPC like with fem roes.

But at the end of the day, most people tend to find youthful small women and tall toned men more attractive. Which is pretty much why au ra are what they are; to appeal to the majority of the playerbase.
