I suspect from a back end point of view its not that simple and the PvP character data is linked to GC, hence why SE are taking there time with itYou dont' need to sacrifice it,
like when in 2.1 we did Wolves's Den your rank was linked to a GC even if you could queue with mates of any GC.
So basically any victory will give a +1 on the achievment of your GC, while in frontlines you will play in 3 different alliance like Yellow, Green and the faboulus colibry Pink
The GC restriction garbage should have been removed long ago. Its incredibly annoying seeing all these matches happen using that website that's been floating around yet I'm still in queue for over 60 minutes. One time I actually saw 6 matches posted before I even got in. How the fk does that even happen? And its getting progressively worse with each week. I'm pretty sure I'm not even gonna reach 20 matches played this week.
If you guys really want square to listen, I insist on spamming the forums with your own personal threads about the subject based on your own views on the issue. I personally feel that SE has absolutely no excuse to keep GC restrictions around this long, as the playerbase has been asking for its removal for a long time now. To any arguments that may bring up, "well if they did this it would disrupt the lore of PvP", there are many ways to deal with this and still maintain an adequate story. As it stands now the vast majority of players dislike this system.
There is always a good excuse its just SE will not tell us 1) financial 2) resources
from what I have come across the money SE are getting from FFXIV is being funneled into other project (FFXV, FFVII:remake) so the size of the FFXIV team is getting smaller.
FFXIV was also created as a PvE experience with PvP tagged unlike games like Medal of Honor and Destiny (god I hate Iron Banner) which is more the other way around
so.. From the FFXIV teams point of view, Do they work of fixing the GC restrictions on PvP to keep 20% of the community happy or work on creating new raids and dungeons to keep 80% of the community happy? and i would heavy doubt removing the GC restrictions is a simple fix since assets have to be re-done and the system has to be re-coded
short version is the GC restrictions is at the bottom of there priority list (more than likely under SMN glamour)

We've been clamoring for them to take out GCs since frontlines first came out in july 2014 and as always we're being ignored.
They have said they are looking into it during a Q&A this past summer but that's just typical SE. Promises and promises just to keep the carrot dangling in front of our noses so we keep subscribing.
Let me reiterate:

It would at least help the Q times a LOT if you just get into a match and play for the GC that needs players. Let's say Adders is the least populated and you're playing for Mael/Flames, why not just fill those spots in Adders up, so people can at least PLAY. Meanwhile you would be just leveling for the GC you are actually in, which means if you win or lose gets counted towards Mael/Flames.
On the other hand, what's really the most annoying part about FL is that third-party bullshit. There shouldn't be a third party in any way. One faction is always gonna cockblock one of the others. Having only one enemy faction instead of 2 would make things so much more enjoyable.
Honestly if they did something "so hard" to dismantle, they just did a valutation error and if not today, one day they should have to fix it.
Also talking about how hard is to change it, I have some doubt, even because they can mantain the different pvp rank for the GCs, for example they just have to allow people to queue for FL and make them play for the less populated in that moment, giving anyway the reward for your actual GC.
I, and a lot of us as mentioned in previous topics, would even like a mercenary que, maybe I'll add the limitation that u cna just soloqueue to it, so they will mantain the actual "limit" to the premedes and the FLs sellers that the GCs actually try to stop.
Honestly I would even play without rewards for this content, because the real reward for me is the fun.

I jsut do not understand SEs stance on this. It will eliminate long que times and the imbalance ha smade me quit frontlines. My GC is absolutely terrible, laughing stock of our data center. The only reason I did not switch is because it will take way too long to level back up to 50.
i agree, please remove GC restriction on frontline it make the queue to be too long.
