I'm gonna have to say that Chocobos in town are not necessary. It's really not that bad walking around town in Final Fantasy XIV. I'd prefer to keep them out honestly. Why? They've been stated before, but I'll state 'em again. Stormwind City. >.>

    It's horrible.

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

The last time I saw Stormwind, the ENTIRE front four or five blocks were completely packed with mounts. I could not see jack shit. I couldn't even see half the mounts except for the larger ones because there were mounts on the mounts.

Plus, given the fact that currently in this game there's nothing but chocobos (and personally I hope it stays that way when it comes to land mounts), that's even more of a reason not to have chocobos in towns. Every single person will have the same bird. Pointless.

Plus there is one major underlying fact, the city lags enough without them. Multiply the amount of entities on the screen by almost 2 when you throw chocobos into the mix. Even more lag. Don't need that.

You probably didn't play during launch when it was 20x the amount of people running around. Frame rate was never the issue since things loaded a bit slower depending on how crowded it was. The only problems we had were the repair npcs not loading fast enough or doors would take 2 mins to open which were later fixed. What you're describing is never a bad thing in an mmo, a crowded and alive city.

Half the people I know bot, and it's obvious that many people in town are vacantly botting away to their hearts content. You can't bot on a chocobo, so that's half the towns population that won't even be on chocoback because they'd have to give up their precious botting to do it.

It's common in this community to ask for aesthetics over practicality. /shrug

Some people just like graphics more than gameplay.

Edit: Yes, I'm waiting for the obligatory outcry of weak, stretched out arguments on how this constitutes a gameplay improvement by not allowing them. Sorry, it's almost totally an aesthetics over gameplay issue.

if they ever allowed them in town i would begin leveling my cul. boiled chocobo for all!

that last thing i need, as a crafter, is someone riding a chocobo to go and start standing on my orb while i craft. there's already enough people that love to do that as it is.

If you don't like people trodden on, then bring back collision detection.

    Imagine the lag, please
Remember how it was last november, where the towns was much busier? The NPCs needed 3 minutes to load and the door to the Uldah adventure guild was broken.
    I don't want this again.

I agree, aside from lag concerns, there is no argument. All they have is their personal preference for what they do or do not want to see in town. If lag is an actual concern, then I can somewhat understand if there is no work around for it, but I'm not convinced it is a concern, and I think those who say that is are just speculating.
