Slower in a sense their consumers do not like to buy the newest gaming platform right away like people in the US or EU and will continue to play on older legacy platforms for as long as they can. Look at FFXI for example SE wouldn't drop support for it because so many JP players wanted to play on it rather then transfer to the superior pc or 360 version. Japan always has the longest support for old game systems after US/EU companies stop making games for them Japan companies are still making games for platforms the rest of the world has abandoned and moved on with.
