And who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us on one of the coming patches like 3.2 and do something about the aura (one can hope).

Yeah, hopefully there is going to be some type of fix. We need a better dark aura looks
Love Dark Knight but honestly...why do we even have an aura? I turn it off when I'm not fighting and I don't plan on turning off other things to not see it in battle. 15% doesn't seem that big of a deal on a tank class to make them look dangerous. We're laughable when it comes to pvp anyway compared to warrior. <_<
Been years since using this forum. @_@
The point is,if a skill is going to have a visible effect, then it might as well be a well designed one. They already gave us the option to hide it for those who really don't want to see it,yet the aura itself is barely visible and imo, most agree that it looks really bad specially in comparison to the auras that other jobs have.Love Dark Knight but honestly...why do we even have an aura? Nerfing the visual effect back when we didn't have the option to hide it kinda made sense since it would at least help those who didn't want to see the aura. But now that there is an option, there is no reason to not bring aura's visual effect up to the quality design that the other auras have.
My other point is that since the Dark Knight was introduced, there has been 2 major complaints about the darkside aura:
1.It looks bad
2.it doesn't obey the graphic settings and can't be hidden like other effects.
They decided to fix number 2 and thus solved half of the problem. Those of us who don't want to hide it,and want a good looking aura are still waiting for a fix.Since they decided to act on the complaints, then it's only fair they fix the other half of the problem that many still complain about.I'll add to this that from my personal experience,I've yet to see anyone who legit likes the way it looks right now.
Sure, there will always be someone who could come in and say "I like it" but my opinion is that that would be the very small minority. On these forums, reddit, other forums and in game most of the comments I've seen on the aura sum up to that people don't like how it looks.
I've just noticed a overlapping combination of darkside aura and that aetherichemical bomb effect looks better than just the plain dark side aura. But might be to solid and distracting.
This is a video of the new job actions for Heavensward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbvv0rgrT4k
For those who haven't seen it,in this video, skip to 4:55 for the Dark Knight section and you'll see what the Darkside aura graphical effect was supposed to look like with it's black flames.
After watching that, can anyone honestly say that what we have now looks good? I'm pretty sure most will agree the current aura we have doesn't look good.
Maybe a black version of that would be a good alternative to what we have. But honestly it would be much easier to just use one of the various dark auras that already exist in the game imo.
Can they please make that ugly AOE that DRKs throw on the ground not look like something i shouldn't be standing in? Or let us not see that please?
This thread is about the darkside aura so please keep the conversation about the darkside aura. But i'll say this,if any certain skill effect bothers you, then you can use the graphics setting to turn down/turn off other players skill effects while still being able to see your own.
And to be honest, salted earth, like many other drk skills,is barely visible in the middle of combat due to every other aoe skill being used by other classes being way brighter and bigger.
