Quick note, it is also optional for me, as a DPS, to do sub 600 DPS. I have 90 minutes to clear the dungeon, if it gets done in that time then it's perfectly optional for me to that DPS. There are no ifs and buts, it's optional. The game was designed with that in mind, that's made clear by the timer that starts from 90 minutes. If I wanted to be forced to actually try I'd be doing raiding content, not doing dungeons, dungeons are there for me to mindlessly relax and be lazy.

Again, it's all OPTIONAL, DWI.

See how poor your argument is? Half your abilities are DPS abilities, it's as optional as a Ninja not using mudras, Trick Attack, not using Invigorate (because that's from the same class, so it must be optional!), etc.

Maybe dps should make their playstyle not to dodge anything ever, you cant complain then, cause that is my playstyle, dodging is OPTIONAL. I also don't need to do anything other than auto attack, cause that is not my playstyle, using my dps abilities is OPTIONAL. If you run low on mp, I don't need to ballad, cause that is not my playstyle, songs are OPTIONAL. I don't need to use an egi, cause its OPTIONAL and that is not my playstyle. I don't need to use fire, I prefer ice, cause that is my playstyle and fire is OPTIONAL

But how do you stay awake? Standing around diddling myself waiting for damage to happen inflicts me with severe narcolepsy. I'd rather slide down a banister of razor blades and land in a pool of salt and rubbing alcohol. Just saying.

I personally will do as much as I can in any job I play which is all of them xD. But seriously those who love healing or tanking will do just that. Those who like to add more to the job will do just that. Those who like to experiment with rotations to find that sweet spot of raining hell on everything they touch no matter the job they are playing will do just that (I fall in this category).

Whats boring for you may be exhilarating for others and vice versa. And that is what makes the world so much fun... lots of ideas and more than one way of doing something... if you ask me that makes life a lot less boring.

I think a fair flipside to this discussion is that if healers have so much downtime to dps, is the healer mechanics in FF14 lacking?

Its a quite fair argument by a player who chooses a healing role that they chose that role cause they wanted to heal, not dps. Some people play healers because healing is what they want to do. If we are in a situation where their presence is, according to some people, borderline unnecessary because of the lack of healing they actually have to do, leading to them standing around for ages, it suggests that perhaps the challenge presented for healers is lacking. A role shouldn't require you to play another role just keep engaged.

Again, in a Expert dungeon that has been going 40 mins no dps has the right to tell a healer he isn't doing enough dps.

Blame Yoshi and his baby mode dungeons. Without big pulls and healer dps dungeons are so damned easy it's ridiculous.

I'm fine with healers not dpsing, but they must accept that they are objectively inferior to healers that dps, they're not good healers, they're okay at best, if they don't I'll pull big and tank in dps stance...I'll still do it if they dps, but I actually expect those to not be afk.

The thing is there are many players who play just like that. Why get mad over it? If you are not there to have fun first and foremost then no matter how the dungeon plays out you will feel no gratification for clearing the dungeon. If all you are there for is to cap esso's or pound away at the LAW grind for Relic well I guess you need to run those with a pf or fc group. Just saying DF is full all kinds of unknowns and craziness. Personally Im there to have fun and check out the scenery. I absolutely love the designs of these HW dungeons... they are simply gorgeous and if I get to spend a few extra minutes in them then that will make me a happy customer. Either way it goes have fun.

Healers DPSing is is good, not wiping because of STR gear and DPS>healing is better. Why are people still arguing over other people skipping cutscenes?
