Pop defensive cool downs preemptively, not when it's too late and you have the entire alliance beating on you.

I like to Plunge right onto an enemy SMN and burst them down then be an annoying to healers after. Of course there are plenty of other things that can be done, and sometimes better plays are available, but if you do just this until you figure out how to DRK you'll at least be moderately useful.

Don't forget Tar Pit in a nice tight pack of enemies is amazing.

Now that you mention it, I suppose a small part of the reason was that I had already exhausted my hotkeys on DRK much like I had on DRG, so PvP skills are always awkward and slow to deploy for me since I can't stand click-to-use keys unless it's something like Songs or Oaths which don't need very quick reaction times. It throws me a bit in that sense perhaps, though maybe I should give it another go at some point. His gear has improved a lot since and he still needs Esoterics so there'd be no harm trying I guess.

That's terrible! PvP abilities are WAYYY too useful to not have easy access to them!

I think my hotbars are incredibly more simplistic compared to most, haha. My third hotbar is primarily dedicated to emotes so it's very difficult to begin using it any differently and feels harder to perform since I have little practice with it.
