Oh come now, that's a silly argument. A DPS cannot heal for anything effectively. Their heals lack the potency to have any use. They should not also interrupt their rotation with a heal since it would incur a hefty loss of DPS in breaking the rotation. I have only rarely seen a non-healer heal possibly ease a touchy situation, and that heal came from a tank, who can actually spare the time. A healer, on the other hand, not only has the down time in almost all content, but their DPS is actually effective.

Lets just put it like this, its the difference between an okay healer and a good healer. Your job is to keep the tank alive, if things die quicker cus of your help they take less damage.

I'm a great healer but your analogy for us to be great is silly.
When T6 was first out without buffs or echos I solo'd healed it because other healer got locked out.

in 3.2 a new intersection is open for the healers, you put materia to max your heals or you put acc to dealt more dps, this gonna be interesting.

I play the 3 healers as my main classes and I wouldn't dream of doing that. I always DPS no matter how stressful it is.

If something is stressful, I'm not doing it. I play this game to relax and have a good time after work. So yeah, only DPSing when I'm perfectnly sure I have at least 3 GCDs free and that my tank knows how to use his cooldowns when dropping too low.

Ignore those noisy people, if all your team still alive, you are doing well as a healer. I am in that before, 1st run i have some laging issue so i stay healing and the other dps become like "you are so bad, you should dps to reduce clear time bla bla bla ...", the run after that i no longer have lagging issue so i do cleric dance to support some damage and then guess what i have a "you are so bad, healer should do heal not dps bla bla bla"
even when noone die and tank's hp alway above 40%
Some tank cant even survive a trash pull of 5 mods for 5s and still ask healer to do dps.
But if you see a tank is tanky enough you can switch to cleric stance to cast some skills, dont do it if you the tank is undergear or cant keep hate
if you are sch cast aldor + SS to help tank surrvive then cast bio, bioII, miasma + bane and then flare ( when you cast flare the SS effect is almost over ) and switch back to heal, with aldor shield and fairy heal the tank can surrvive after your combo, if still have free time, spam broil
Whm cast divine + regen + asylum, switch on and cast aero III for aoe dot, aero II and I on the big one, spam 3 holy will give you a 8s stun to the mobs then switch back to heal, if still have time spam some stone II.
ast dont have any aoe dot so you can only spam gravity and use comburst II+I on the big one, need to practice if you want to do cleric dance with ast

The fact is I'll do it just not often. Not that I'm Lazy it's just I'm a healer. I heal things, not destroy them. If I throw a holy up means I got a great group that I can rely on without them dying. But if it's a mediocre group, sorry just healing.
Also HEALERS don't ask for dps to help heal so Dps shouldn't ask healers to dps because they're slacking

Do you find yourself doing nothing while waiting to heal? These are the times you should be dpsing. If you end a fight with full MP and everyone else's resources are drained then you are, in fact, being lazy. Sorry

And during this time you were healing the entire time I assume? No break for DPS? Then you obviously didn't read what I said.

Was on my healer doing my expert and roulette and this SMN kept saying I should dot or help dps
Now I'm fine with dpsing occasionally but that's not my job!
Dps was slacking already was a 40min run in Saint.
Granted I let the tank die once because I was typing to said group, but that's all.
This SMN said I wasn't even doing my job, but my job is to heal! If I wanted to dps i'll switch to a dps class.
Don't argue with someone just because they're healing and doing their job.
This dps also was ignoring mechanics from belladonna, not looking away from whatever that move is called.
Also he/she wasn't new had full 210 gear

was not worth making a thread over. I seen so much worse than this. When I tank people say pulls too big, pulls too small, healers afking without notice, dps just auto attac only and thinking people won't notice.. do I make a thread about it? No, I make a decision with the other party members how to deal with it.

Actually it is a point made in the cnj storyline that you can and should make full use of all of your spells as a healer.. not just healing spells, Sylphie is used as the example "i just want to heal! I'm /good/ at healing! You can't make me do those other things." While E-Sumi-Yan tries to convince her that she needs to expand her abilities and learn.

Be level 30 Sylphie, do some attack magic its what its there for.

Good cnj and whm learn to stance dance, sch can toss out such obscene dot with their spells that its honestly a waste not to. As a blm i have tossed out the odd heal when things were going badly, as drg i have off tanked a mob that broke off and went for the healer using forsight to stay alive until the tank got it back.

If you have time to stand around during a battle you have time to help take down enemies. It is situational sometimes but it can be fun and gets fairly easy when you get the hang of it.
