Why do so many people FAIL at dps.

Wasnt the whole point of the main post about bad DPS who just absolutely refuse to do what they should, refuse to learn or just plain don't care? Sorry, not gonna sift through all 26 pages but I agree as well with the main post. All too often do I see DPS who refuse to try and everyone here trying to cover for them, I am almost 100% positive, have run across at least one DPS where they noticed something was not right and even attempts to try to help or fix it was met with either a rude comment, the dps somehow doing worse and just flat-out ignored.

You shouldn't be thanking anyone. Instead, look at the points that you were wrong and admit it. Someone who is "always" right, may not be. In this case, you are not, and have been proven wrong multiple times.

Worse off, you give next to no solution to what you think the problem is. Your arrogance is what turned so many people against you in this thread. The reason people said this was popcorn worthy is because they enjoyed others ripping your poor argument apart.

It was also funny how you got upset because someone posted your IGN, but you had no problem making others feeling bad for their "poor" performance.

Here is something that I hope that will change your tone, the Majority here don't like your tone, nor will they ever with that arrogance you displayed. Here is a crazy idea, but admit you're wrong for once...cause guess what? You are.

I admitted I was wrong many times but you don't care I already said it, and I said thank you to the people/person trying to cheer me up, so I'll say it again to make you feel good for your reply, sorry again. *sigh* people say cheer up and such but more just keep beating me down to make me trash again like your post and the one after.

Again sorry, I won't ever even speak about this again, even if people are afk auto attacking, I have no right to say anything like you said or anyone else said to me for I am not a great dps, i'm just like them it seems, ones that afk dps or don't try even if I do my very best.

Pinkie, I feel bad for you due to how the post turned out. But please see it from our perspectives.

As a DPS myself, I tried healing, and I struggle with some content. I can tank a little, but not all content. I can also learn a fight faster as a dps, in this case, NIN. I think your perspective is set this way because it sound like you play all roles equally, so you expect others to play that role the same. Being a dps main, topics like this offends many of us, and most of the community are dominantly dps players. There's always going to be complaints in any role.

- The tank lost aggro on a pull; he's bad or lazy.
- The healer tossed one Stone too many and couldn't get Benediction off; he's bad or lazy.
- The tank is wearing VIT accessories in a dungeon; he's lazy.
- The DRG used Jump at the wrong time, so he got caught in the AoE; he's bad because he don't know the enemy.

These things list are considered mistakes at times. "The NIN is 6 on the hate list." Why? Because the tank set his pull macro for 20 seconds, but he pulled at 10 seconds. Mudras wasn't ready. Used Shadewalker on the tank. Had to get in melee range. Those three things happened while those who normally play with that tank knew he was pulling at 10 and were already prepared.

Think about this:

Someone who fulltimes a DPS may not always give 100% depending on the content. Some of us get "lazy" to the point where we only mainly use our heavy-hitters on the trash instead of full rotations. This may or may not include dots. If you're performing YOUR best, they might be performing THEIR best. YOUR best shouldn't include watching if I'm keeping up Huton, or question why I use Kassatsu + Doton on grouped mobs.

Personally, I just don't care how most people play. The dps complaints mostly stem from Raid content, then that mentality is brought over to lesser content like dungeons. Many people who don't Raid do not Raid for a reason, and they care less about what others say about how they play in lesser content. I do not Raid myself, so when I go DF or PF for a dungeon or something, and they start questioning why my NIN is doing 1179 dps versus 1300 dps, I still remain quiet, because if I just do a /sit, then I'm doing 0 damage, and that'll REALLY give them something to get mad about.

Or, I could suggest to them that I can leave and they find a replacement. Sometimes, that gets them upset, too, because now that got to wait an hour for the PF to fill again. And guess what? Waiting around doing nothing grants you zero dps anyway. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS stress if people have issues with how others play, then they should stick with their group instead of pugging.

like I do get annoyed with people that say only auto attack and press one or two other buttons cause that is just.... lazy but really if they seem to be trying to do more than pressing two buttons I'm fine with them.

What bugs me is when elitist pricks bring parsers to non raid/savage content and complain if someone's only 50 dps below what they should be. The ENG community is far worse than the JP community in this elitist attitude too and want proof go to Tonberry and see what people on that 50/50 server are like. I much prefer JP people... Yet can't really speak JP....

That is what made me make the rant post after that aery run, the mch was just doing that while bouncing around, maybe three to put the dot up and hot shot damage buff and another reason why we wiped on the last boss cause not enough dps to kill adds on add phase before one shot kill but like they said I have no right to say anything. I have no solution to fix it cause to be honest, there is none really besides ranting about it which only gets bashed on if you do. Its a lose lose and leaves you feeling crappy after the bashing. *sigh* T_T

People who parse are funny to me. I get to see them rage all day while the rest of the group may not even respond lol... Seen a BLM quit because after we beat Faust, he asked if we wanted our numbers. The tank simply said "no", then he pulled, the BLM said, "well, y'all suck." then left.

for my own sanity I tend to counter parse when I try savage cause I learned from experience many of the people that complain your dps is low are actually the ones that have an even lower dps but they feel the need to try and scape goat you...

But yeah I started this raid cycle far to late and never cleared as1 and all groups now are like you need to have cleared as1-2-3 and do this amount of dps. so Im not raiding

I really can't stand the intensity of the pricks in savage, like relax practice makes perfect if you keep at it long enough and if you want to complain about someone's dps then teach them how to play whatever class they are using or show them a guide... people that just say you suck and offer no advice... no thanks

I can relate to OPs frustration sort of but the first area complained about was the Aery. This is a leveling dungeon, not an end game raid such as Alex or Void Ark or an EX Primal. Even an EX dungeon at lv 60 right now isn't really a place to complain. As long as the content is being cleared without wipes and they aren't just auto attacking I don't see something worth complaining about. Even Void Ark is kinda meh. One alliance could clear it while the other two stand at the entrance picking their noses. Once we get to Alex and EX Primals this shouldn't be seen anymore though since those generally require everyone to put in more effort.

Those are definitely places to complain. Any content above level 50 is, really. By then people should at least know the very basics of their jobs and it's certainly a problem that a lot of level 60s still don't know these absolute basics.

I must say I feel sad at the frequency with which this topic comes up and the harsh judgements some people make about their fellow players.

If you were able to chart player performance you would see it falls on a normal distribution curve (don't know what I'm talking about? Normal Distribution ).
A small proportion of players could be classed as 'bad', with a tiny proportion who are really bad. The same with the players who are 'good', only a tiny proportion of them will be outstanding. Most of us would fall around the middle.

Most players are good enough.
If you use DF you are going to meet players of all abilities. The really good ones aren't just good because they worked hard, some of them may not have worked at all. There is such a thing as natural talent.
Similarly the 'bad' players won't all be bad due to laziness, some of them will have read guides and be trying their absolute best. They might never be 'good' no matter how hard they try. Others might simply be learning and will improve over time.

If you can't handle the fact that not everybody in a random group is going to play to a standard you like, then DF and pugging really aren't the best ways for you to approach content.
