Well now that Demolition happened I can tell you exactly how many actually opened up on my server

This What I found (Excalibur Server):
A total of 155 Plots were Demolished, all of the plots were sold in about 3 minutes
24 Free Companies got a house.
    131 people gained personal houses.
105 people lost their personal house.
50 Free Companies lost their house.

So about 2 and a half wards worth~ so about 10-11% of my servers houses opened up

The interesting (if unsurprising) detail is that the housing reclamation timers failed to work properly. There had been just shy of 27 hours of combined downtime for Balmung since patch 3.1 was released and the servers came online. According to SE's own explanation, that meant none of the homes on Balmung should have been demolished until several hours into 12/26 (in North America). And yet they were demolished on that server almost 13 hours early during Christmas Day.

While I'm sure that was a relief for the people camping locations yesterday and waiting, the reality is the demolitions happened prematurely.

Hard to say how they decided to calculate it, exactly - there were multiple reports of people getting 3 day notices that stated 11 AM PST - and the actual demolitions took place 1-3 hours after that depending on server...so I would say it was close to what the 3 day warning stated + maintenance.

It's not hard to decide how they calculated it at all. The word used to describe it is, very simply, "wrong".

According to their own email: "Days related to maintenance, server outages, or other times when the server is not operational (“Maintenance Events”) do not count towards the total inactivity time period. As a result, the actual removal date may be subject to delay due to such Maintenance Events. (The demolition will never occur before the aforementioned demolition date.)".

Using the above description there had been just shy of 27 hours of server downtime on Balmung since the server came online with patch 3.1. That should have pushed the demolition timer into the morning hours of December 26th in North America. The demolitions were, according to the caveat in SE's email, premature. If you can think of a way where 27 hours of recorded downtime magically turns into 14 hours, I'm all ears.

lol...that's what I mean - it is hard to say how they calculated from the start it since it DID NOT ADD UP - to repeat though, it DID add up according to 3 day notices which at this point is all that matters...people were given notices and the time/date matched what they said it would
