How many lots will actually open up?

They should remove finally the stupid private ones...and all fc would be happy....
i know a guy who have 2 privates and a fc house and he does nothing with them, he must be thinking "just screw the others!!.."

And how does that work out in your head? Players like me and alot of others who have played many many hours to afford their houses and decorate them? Lets just put aside the prices for the houses, And lets just purely check out the decoration items.
I know i have some items in my house alone that sell for over 1m+ What am i gonna do with those items EVEN if they refund me for my house(Which is not gonna happen cause people will riot the hell out of em)

Every single item is bound and useless for me. They decided to make housing the way it is now, let them fix it not punish the players that have houses at this point.

As much as I adore my private house, I really feel they dropped the ball with the fc and private housing. if private housing was in it's own separate neighborhood, separate from fc neighborhoods, and were cheaper than fc plots, it would help a lot. But because people are working so hard to get millions upon millions of gil in order to buy a personal place, no one is willing to let them go, no matter how little they use them. That's most of the reasoning as to why people don't just give up the plots that they don't use. If there was more garden space, people wouldn't buy 4 houses on the same server just so they could do gardening. Or if people could share their private estates with their alts, they'd have little to no reason to buy another house with their alt. There are many, many ways SE could ease the problems with housing, and yet they chose this path. I'm inclined to follow Gyson's line of reasoning because of that.

I think if people could share their private estates with their alts....

Logically they will let as many as possible alts share alts' houses to their main,
therefore it will be the biggest reason to buy another houses with their alts.

I wish they would allow us to receive a refund when relinquishing.
I'd like to upgrade to a Medium house if one comes up... but since I already own a small house I can't buy one without losing everything

However if I demolished my home via abandonment I could get a 80% refund on the land.
It just seems backwards that I can't get the refund for relinquishing as well.

tbh it's for this very reason that zero houses have opened up since 3.0 came out. if they allowed players to sell back their plots, people would be more willing to give up their unused land. so now people are waiting and refusing to go into their house so that they can get 80% of their gil back just in time for christmas. It's really silly that this is the way SE decided to implement it, but hey, everyone will just have to wait for the 25th to get a house. There's no reason to demolish your house at this point.

The reason why SE probably did this is simple. They are aware that people are selling their houses for double/triple/quadrupole the price. Doing this would only give them more money in the process, Support more people buying multiple houses(with alts etc)

They should just make it like this, Your main character is allowed to have one single house(Personal) All their other characters are automaticly co-tenants(Not to be confused with tenants you chose yourself)

Looking from the activity and houses on my server, it's barely safe to say that none will open up despite people leaving the server at a constant rate. I don't even know why I'm even bothering trying to hope daily to find a house open up for grabs.

As someone who really adores housing and such, this is really depressing.
This is not going to fix the problem of people wanting to get a house, it really doesn't.

When i started playing, there were a few medium and large houses available for sale. By the time i got a character to 50 and saved up the gil to buy one, they were all snapped up. Every patch since I hold out hope that they do SOMETHING, and always disappointed.

Housing relinquishment happening on Christmas is a bit of a slap in the face. If they pop at 12AM UTC on the 45th day, that may mean it will be right in the middle of dinner for my family and I.

I'm now an fc leader with a rank 8, and i have friends that are considering joining other fc's for at least a short time just to level/color their chocobos. How can I not blame them?

I looked up every single owner and fc in lavender beds on my server, and if the ratio is the same for all 2 areas, about 18% of the housing has a fairly high potential to open up. We'll see - I'm trying to not get my hopes up. Insight from development about what else is planned to open up this feature to others would be really appreciated.

SE has confirmed that they're working on a housing transfer feature, prior to adding more wards, for players who would like to move from one house to another (specifically FC's) so they don't lose gil/items/airships etc. No ETA but maaaybe they'll patch it in before the holiday (wishful thinking).
