Anima is good for when you need to meet up with your LS mates for something in a hurry, so definitely keep it in. But like some others have mentioned, SE can either slow down the regen and/or decrease the max Anima to 50.
I'd remove the ability to use anima to go from crystal to gate. I.e. keep it as a network of crystals only.
You can only teleport if you are at an aetheryte, and anima regens slower. I think it should be this way, and no I don't play this game all the time and don't have all the time in the world to play. What's the point in having open world events happening if no one is walking?
SCREW ANIMA, I vote to get rid of it or make it harder to use/obtain
Things loose there novel luster.
Lets change your example a bit, Lets say instead of going up the mountain every once in a while for the view you had to go there every day for work, and the only way up is to climb. Rain, snow, or shine you had to hike and climb. You know what you would be saying then? Damn i wish they would pop for a cable car or lift.
Anima is that lift. And we are working at a questionably placed office at the top of a mountain.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
You quoted my question but still never answered my question."Anima is a limitless resource guys."
Glad to know you have had no trouble spending your anima, 'cause I sure as hell have. And I basically live in Ul'dah and it's nearest Camps, which is fortunate because I don't have to go any further and spend even more of those precious points.
Everything also doesn't revolve around camps, at least not anymore. How are you going to teleport straight to the Hamlets?
Personally, I think a sort of inverted idea would be better.
Have Anima regenerate rapidly, capping out at 10 and a rate of 5 per hour. Scale the Anima costs as follows:
Return to Crystal in Current Zone: 2 Anima (24 minutes)
Return to Crystal in Other Zone: 3 anima (36 minutes)
Current Zone City: 3 Anima (36 minutes)
Current Zone Camp: 4 Anima (48 minutes)
Current Zone Camp(Reg): 3 Anima (36 minutes)
Other Zone City: 5 Anima (60 minutes)
Other Zone Camp: 8 Anima (1 hour 36 minutes)
Other Zone Camp(Reg): 6 Anima (1 hour 12 minutes)
Inflate the gil cost of registering with a camp accordingly. You really should have to put in at least a few days worth of work to get the gil necessary for extremely high level camps.
This means you can use your teleport to jump straight to a camp far away to meet up with your LS mates. Alternatively, you may want to grab the airship first, then teleport to camp, making things cheaper on you. As fast paced as this game is, you might find that NM hunt is done with and now you have to chocobo/airship it back to what you were working on.
It's now a very clever and highly flexible replacement for that "Return to Inn so I can Log Out Super Fast" 30 min ability.
We still need it for a return feature. I fell through the map yesterday, if I dont have anima theres no way to get back unless they make a web based unsticker which could probably used for fast transit to a home point. I say keep anima. Maybe you can reduce the amount now, and also grant a bonus based off of a guardian trait (as stated in my by the 12 thread), but other wise, I say keep anima.
I wouldn't compare a game to work...if you are then I think there are bigger issues at hand. You should be able to enjoy the trip at least once before sighing and cringing everytime you need to move without teleporting assistance.
I'd love see anima gone, it felt contrived from the get go and wont be necessary once airships and chocobos are implemented.
