I am actually surprised and a bit disappointed that even after the third thread is started on this, Reinheart's thread is derailed by this and still... No Community Rep has come forth and cleared this up.

My opinion: This is not a bow/harp, just a very elaborate long-bow.

what has everyone thinking it is a bow harp is that bard was announced by a dev in a magazine a few months ago. I think it is a bowharp, and i hate it.

This is at least a really fun lesson in forum psychology. I make a thread about discussing whether or not it's a bowharp and the pros and cons of it, and we discuss how happy or angry we are that it's totally happening - and then a thread is created specifically stating it's not a harp, and we all go there and argue over whether or not it's a bowharp.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I know very well why these discussions keep going back and forth, I have been keeping with all four threads. Just a bit sad no one from Square has brought it to light, seeing how distressed the community is.

My take on it still stands, all jobs are heavily influenced on what is the strong point of each class to enhance it. That's what jobs is all about: An enhancement/specialization of the class they come from.

~GLA turns into PLD bringing up the basic abilities of using shield, sword, heavy armor, damage mitigation and hate control the GLA has to make it the ultimate damage sponge

~PUG turns into MNK bringing up the basic abilities of punching enemies while cleverly dodging their attacks to make it the ultimate punching machine while cleverly dodging their attacks (=p)

~LNC turns into Dragoon successfully transforming itself into the ultimate badass with Jump and the best armor, enough said.

~ARC turns into ??? and this is where its breaking up the whole Jobs being specializations of the class thingy. I have not played ARC at all, but definitely partied with many, I don't see how turning into BRD will specialize its current abilities and accentuate ARC's unique abilities, hence, why I don't feel Archer will turn into Bard.

If this is the case though, Archer being Bard, then I would be glad to see how this will turn out. My eyes are on PLD, DRG and BLM though.

you forgot to mention paladins magic which is really like a glad+white mage.

i would have like to have seen archer with a wide assortment of dot and de-buff arrows.
