Effort is getting off the sofa to get the remote for your TV instead of getting someone else to hand it to you. There's no difficulty involved (unless you're disabled, but that's an entirely different story) is there? It just takes you, the player, to carry out a task.

SE could quite easily put in a brief story similar to the one in FFXI (while not taking 6 hours to complete) prior to obtaining the usage of rental Chocobos. This would give them a chance to show off their storytelling skills that they have been well known for and would allow the player to become more emotionally involved with the game. I do not see why this is a bad thing. Can you tell me why this is a bad thing?

That's funny. I'm pretty sure I only complained about the lack of rewarding and interesting quests, not this 'everything' you speak of.
Or they could give us finally a faster means of travel after a year of walking? Something that should of been in the game at the start?

Being as this is the FIRST step in chocos raising it should require little effort.

Again look for dufficulty, effort or whatever new word you make up in BATTLES (Raids, endgame, ifrit battle, materia etc)
then you wont be angry at everything SE adds.

P.S a little story in getting a choco will be JUST as boring btw. it will add nothing. So let me travel faster and save the good CS for actual conent.
