2.0 quest was a nerfed down catch up version of 1.0 relic quest. They didn't add grind to it (or better removed the grind out of it, like Hamlet Defence) so the new players can get themselves on the same progress step as a 1.x player. At the end, the devs saw then that the playes got their relics too fast if there is no grind.

Or the reason we have pure grinds to this degree in place is because we had enough people who didn't want a challenging fight involved with relic weapons again after titan hm (which is actually one of the reasons why we never again had fights like that involved with our relic), so we get greater concentrations of pure grind, and tediousness than we coulda've had otherwise (come on... poetics? 2.x dungeons? for our 3.15 relic? really?).

I'm willing to put money on the fact that IF they had the guts to challenge players for their relic again by making us do thordan EX, or even A1S, a huge portion of the relic's 3rd step would cease to be, hence my modest suggestion: give us the option of doing some challenging content for it, or grinding our sanity away.

Before you say 'gordian rewards challenge seekers', as a SCH who downed a4s, my best weapon comes from this relic grind, while I don't even get a title (apparently it was supposed to be illuminati quencher, but they put that in normal, probably to appease the incapable). There's many things wrong with that.

The items are actually 20 bone fragments, 20 blacklip oysters, 20 obsidians, and 20 krakka root seeds.
If you look at the seeds it becomes obvious because it's lacking the unique drawstring that the unidentifiable seeds have:

In mathematics, hard refers to the amount of time it takes to complete some task (e.g. NP-Hard) which is what the quoted was referring to. If you read the post you quoted he even specified the ease of being obtainable. Excluding the amount of time it takes for you to complete the fight, then it will take 8 weeks to get any other 210 weapon given your weapon isn't in the loot table and you don't win rolls for the dip (you can buy either after 8 weeks, or the dip should be yours by default on the 8th week assuming you are playing with fair loot rules).

Are you sure that is what he is refering to? Because he state in the second sentance "hard and grind" not "hard grind". Also when people say something is hard in game forums, it generally refers to content difficulty. But then, I think you misread both posts. He came off as others saying this quest was difficult and saying it wasn't, while I pointed out that people weren't calling it hard, they were calling it lame.

They aren't meant to be "quick and easy" like the 2.0 relics are

2.0 relics weren't easy, and were not quick as a result for many unless you had good players, which was hard to find.

I want that challenge back. People complained that it was too hard which is a major part of the reason why we have these grinds now.

Relics will never be a 1 day quest. Sorry.

No, you haven't i already explained WHY people are complaining, It's not going to change. Regardless of how many Ideas you throw out. if the quest was get 2 crystals only and 2 i dungeons, i highly doubt people will complain much, other then the "this is to easy" posters.
