    At it's end? Definitely not.

Has it hit it's peak already? Probably.

Suggesting that someone who is fairly apparently burned out should take a break and come back when they are refreshed is NOT telling them just to leave.

Maybe you did not actally read what I posted, because you have repeatedly paraphrase and mischaracterized my comments in a fairly negative manner. My suggestion to take a break if you are burned out is out of consideration of the player who may be burned out as well as those around them. What point is there in someone who is unhappy and bored to continue banging their head against the same wall when they can easily take a break to refresh themself and come back full of energy again? How does it help anyone to continue doing something that bores and annoys them?

With regard to negativity and it's effect on others. I believe this is a fairly well documents aspect of group dynamics and psychology. Personally, I've seen the cancer of negativity tear apart statics, groups of friends and free companies. It is a real problem, both in virtual settings as well as real life.I have seen the impact in real life also, it's not pretty. But, go ahead and be angry with me for posting my thoughts in a civil manner, that's your pergoative.

This. What is sad is, this game could have been far greater. Art Style, Design, lots of it was great.
But the things that held it back--chiefly game design and phantom ps3 limitations, REALLY held it back...

Well, luckily this game has a lot of room and resources to grow.

Look at FFXIV 1.0 -> It was pretty Innovative as far as what it was initially trying to accomplish as an MMO. It was mostly just lacking content and was limited by the Core Engine the game was run on, but the character development was there and the whole crafting and player economy had such a large presence overall, it gave the impression of a real living world - Especially when you physically had to sell your goods because there was no market board or retainer system. (People were really attached to their Character, and as such spent a lot of time just being logged in, essentially happy to do nothing.)

I think that 1.0 was basically built in the reverse order of how a normal MMO is made, or essentially how a Sand Box MMO would be made, where a lot of content is Player made, 1.0 just didn't have any utilities for any player made content outside of the Armory System since nearly everything in the game had to be made, levelling parties and exploring the worlds as groups (because you had to, there was ridiculously strong mobs in random places)

With FFXIV 2.0 they have built a strong foundation and world for players first, with a lot of initial content and purpose. This gives them the headroom to do innovative content. Why do you need headroom in order to give players new and innovative content you ask? In as few of words as I can describe it in.... 1.0.

I don't doubt in the Dev Teams ability to amaze and innovate, as there has been plenty of it so far. I'm luckily fairly new to MMO's so I'm not all that difficult to please - "Been there done that" comes to mind.

I feel it's just a matter of how long they have determined they need to play it safe in order to withstand any potential failures in content. Look at the diversity in player base, and determine for yourself if a single change that you enjoy wont alienate even 20% of the players.

I'll still be playing this game because I love the story and my character but yeah, Blade and Soul is coming next month (already bought the $125 pack) with a story that is almost as good and has far superior pvp. Also, WoW:Legion (my most played MMO at 19000+ hours) brings with it one helluva packed expansion and they practically start you with a relic weapon (36 weapons, each with their own expansion wide story, skins from pve and pvp, special procs, and its own talent tree) for all 36 specs of the 11 classes.

But yeah, I won't be touching it as a mere 10 ilvls difference throughout the expansion isn't going to be worth 150+ hours of my time and an absurd amount of gil (seriously, other MMOs I play don't have expensive crafting integrated into this kind of content, why does this one have to?).

I don't play anymore because I don't like what the game is today. A boring casual grindy game where hard content isn't rewarded.

Don't know if I will come back, but for now, I have some fun with another MMO. (and here i'm in this forum during my break)

I think SE should innovate a little.

The game isn't dying--it's just that it's settled into its content model and some folks dislike that content model. A similar thing happened with WoW starting with its second expansion: they basically created the content model we have in FFXIV during that expansion and have repeated it, since then. But WoW's not dying either; it's just leveling off to its more natural population, and I suspect FFXIV is undergoing a similar trend.

Honestly, I see *more* people on my friends list now than at any point since very early HW (and far more than were present for 2.55, as well). What is definitely happening, though, is that players are concentrating in a few of the largest servers, so we're probably going to need server merges at some point. Diabolos lost a fair share of players to Gilgamesh over the past few months, and having visited Balmung recently, it's insane how packed that place is.

Smaller servers probably do easily make it seem like the game is "dying," though.

This game isn't going to end it's life anytime soon. Even if they start taking a loss SE already has too much of an image of this game to do so. Not to mention they leeched so much money off FFXI just to reboot this damned thing especially with their lackluster sales on... Everything else (Hey hallway simulator. I mean FFVII female cloud edition... I mean FFXIII.) Before it ends it's going to turn into a f2p game that is still full of generic NPC's that nobody cares about, with main characters nobody really remembers because they took the short cut of "Let's just copy as much of WoW as possible and make it an even MORE casual game, but then put in end game content with no ramping up of difficulty because that's good game design!"...

That's not even touching up on the whole me identifying with the Dark Knight quest line because there were times when I'd look at the screen and be like "These people aren't that stupid. They're not going to do this. That dragoon isn't going to pick up a second eye when he's bathed in blood and was already... Nevermind. He picked it up. Now he's possessed. Good job."

If only I could choose to unleash her whenever I think the rest of the cast are being entirely too stupid. Goblins walk out. Start yapping. Sword + skull = No more problems. They are clearly a threat and talk about mass genocide. WHY ARE WE LETTING THEM WALK AWAY?

So no. not at the end of it's life but it's not gonna have half the run time of XI. Because for it's flaws, FFXI still had more character in it's story telling, without the "You're a warrior of light!" it was "You're an adventurer" and you eventually became a reliable adventurer and you rose to the task rather than using a crutch. The Enemies weren't all so generically evil either. Ramuh and Shiva are the only non EVIL CAUSE WE ARE EVIL villains we've faced. And one is a crazy old man and the other was an unstable woman who turned herself into a primal. TBH I was glad when the scions "died" and I was hoping not one of them survived and we could move on from stupid crap like that 2 minute sagahin event where you just saw them cutting them down in one shot while we, the player stood there with vapid expressions watching.

And SE hasn't done any innovation in years. So hoping that will happen is hoping that Capcom will put out a proper megaman game or a breath of fire game that isn't a stupid mobile game that was renamed breath of fire just because they knew it sucked enough that it wouldn't sell without it (Hey didn't square do something like that with a similiar stupid mobile game where it just had you using disposable warriors of light? Oh...)

i havent felt so 'meh' about the game since 2.3. one thing is the content draught. if we were on schedule a new raid tier wouldve been dropped by now and even though i dont raid anymore farming on easy mode keeps you busy for a while with (hopefully) new mechanics and some interesting bosses.

the other thing is the superbomb that is the relic quest right now. i dont feel like doing the hard grind so by just doing my usual shit i wont get it done before 3.2 which in turn makes the weapon completely useless. and we all now the nerfs for the quest are coming at some point.
otherwise theres really not much to do for me right now. just tired of the formula (been playing since 2.0 beta).

being a ps4 player plays a big role. if i had a gaming pc i wouldve taken an extended break and look at some other mmos like blade & soul and black desert. teso can only keep my attention for an afternoon at most.

I decided maybe i do the relic quest anyway. maybe just take it slow and see what happens. i still have hope for this game, it seems with the recent news, there is some general feed back oh how to fix the game, let us hope they do a good job in 3.2, because that may be our last hope i think.
