@Memoe -> I do and a lot of my friends enjoy it too. We like have a long term goal, and it's not even restricting us. Just have to do the dailys and tribal mission, maybe a bit of alexander if you want to speed up the process but that's it.

I don't know if I've seen anyone who enjoys the relic quest yet, but I can say this: I have seen a lot of people approach the grind with good attitudes, and even if they completely despise the new relic quest, that fact that they can at least be positive about the experience makes the issue seem more bearable.
Stockholm Syndrome. It isn't the "complainers" that have it either.
For the sake of perspective, the i170 to i180 law weapon upgrade token is 900 law. To go from i200 to i210, it requires 54400 law. SIXTY times what the earlier upgrade required. If you have a Thordan EX weapon, this is a 5 item level boost at ridiculous cost. Such a tiny boost is absolutely not worth the time to grind when it will be made more reasonable in later patches. With A4S dropping i210, an i200-205 weapon is more than sufficient to be able to attempt A3S and A4S, but the intent on the relic should have been to put more power in the hands of raiders that aren't cutting it in those raids. Instead, the content will be old by the time most people that needed the relic complete it.
So "something to do" for the sake of what exactly? Won't have it in time for A3S/A4S. Experts are easy. Void Ark is easy. Thordan EX is being cleared all the time. If you want something to do, level your other classes. Help lower level players out. Finish old zetas. Level crafting classes. Do challenges, achievements. Do something worth your time. Don't do this.
Because 1. The amount of time and effort you would have to dedicate as an individual to get a complete Anima weapon I feel is appropriately comparable to the amount of time a static will have to put into A4S alone in order to even come close to a clear.
A Raider has to find 7 other like-minded players around their same skill level, work out a proper schedule with those players to take time out of their lives every week to play said content, spend time thinking about their itemization, party composition, working out a fight by fight strategies to make up for their group's strengths and weaknesses and then put in the blood, sweet, and tears and overall improve as a player or die trying.
After they accomplish all that maybe they'll actually clear A4S and then their group will eventually be awarded with an overabundance of 210 weapons. Every active player at level 60 also had this option available to them for 5 months prior to the release of this questline.
Someone gunning for an Anima weapon has to
Fate grind an alt class for maybe a day, run some unsynced dungeons, properly do their dailies every day, and put some time back into Alexander normal and eventually they can see themselves with a shiny new 210 weapon in like maybe 2 weeks to a month depending on how much time they feel like playing video games.
And 2. It is 100% true that this grind is very mild in comparison to other games on the market.
Let me compare that grind to the other current relevant weapon grind in my life, Phantasy Star Online 2's Austere weapons.
To obtain an Austere weapon, debatably the best weapons depending on the weapon type you're gunning for you have to:
collect 100 chunky chungas stones from the boss "Profound Darkness". This boss will only show up at pre-scheduled times and you get to fight him once per sever every time he shows up. You will on average get maybe 5 stones per kill. Next up collect 100 "Excubes", that part's easy done worry about that. So after about 15 Profound Darkness kills (You get some bonus chungas stones through title rewards) you are finally free to get an "Invade" weapon of your choice!
That's not an Austere.
Now after obtaining an Invade weapon, you have to collect 100 more stones from Profound Darkness, but on top of that you need to collect 100 Nero stones as well. Nero stones from from PD and any other "Dark Falz" variant in the game, it's not a 100% drop and you can at most maybe get 3 Nero stones per Falz kill if you are super lucky. You also need to collect 50 stones from clearing Ultimate difficulty in three different zones, getting maybe 3 stones per clear. You also need to get 5 stones from clearing the three different sets of Extreme quests, so 15 stones from XQs total. Finally after all that, you hand over 300 more Excubes and destroy your Invade weapon and you are given a half upgraded Austere weapon.
Now repeat that entire process again, and you have a fully upgraded Austere weapon for one of 17 different weapons.
This is a space to tell the developers of the service we are subscribing to know what we don't like so they can fix it and keep us interested in what they're selling.
I don't care about giving them a pat on their back like a couple of pals at a bar, we are not. If I sub for next month, they'll now they did a job good enough, if not, this is where they can go to to know why.
Vocal minority huh? Clearly you arent seeing the chat in game that I am..
to sum it all up "its not worth it". This is what is going on in ALL of my linkshells
First bolded --- stay in game and enjoy what they gave us? You mean stay in game, be a lemming and take the pile of crap they dumped on us.
Second bolded -- Trust me, you dont have to tell people to do this, they are ALREADY doing it themselves.
Face it, there is an extreme lack of "give a damn" coming from the devs right now. People asked for the relic quests to be meaningful. Not overly excessive, boring, and mind-numbing. You talk about outdated content, guess what. by the time you finish your relic it WILL be outdated.
SE dropped the ball, end of story.
Am I doing the relic? Yep. Am I enjoying it? Nope

People don't necessarily complain ingame because they don't want to disturb people who play the game. Forums is where the feedback should be posted;
Please do not forget that, as soemeone who created his account in february 2015, you didn't experience the relic quest chain of the 2.X FFXIV before it was nerfed. You must understand that almost all players who complain are those who have been playing FFXIV for a long time and already went through relic grinding in the 2.X patchs.@Memoe -> I do and a lot of my friends enjoy it too. We like have a long term goal, and it's not even restricting us. Just have to do the dailys and tribal mission, maybe a bit of alexander if you want to speed up the process but that's it.

Personally, I think it propaganda posting to make this game seem worst then it is. That's my 2gil
Since wow, the rise of gaming, and rise in social media too many ppl like to over exaggerate their displeasure in the most dramatic way possible. Its to get a rise of other posters, and in some cases it's just trolling.
Instead of having single large topics about 1 one thing, we have over 200. It's all the same stuff as well.
Example 2+ threads just on the new relic. And 20+ ffxiv is dying threads.
Funny thing is, you can give feedback with out being overly negative, even if you dislike something.
What also doesn't help are the class clown posters who derail threads for likes, or those who jump the gun and go off on the thread title.
A good example id winterlunas topic about adding an option to patty finder, people read the thread title alone and went off on them to near insulting degrees.
You also can't forget the cyber bullies who go out of their way to insult a person, calling others brats or something.
Anyway that's my 2gil

The Party Finder on Diabolos hasn't been as busy as it is now since Heavensward's launch. I'm seeing a general uptick in the number of people participating in content, rather than the reverse, here.
I have talked to a few people that probably won't be doing the Anima grind. Some of them are folks that didn't do the Relic/Zodiac grinds in ARR, though, and I would expect them to not like this grind as well (since it's arguably worse than anything we've gotten before).
