What is wrong with people on the forum..?

The thread title says it all. What is wrong with the people on this forum?
This incredible negativity I met here today is not even remotely a good reflection of what is happening ingame. All I see here are pages upon pages of people crying and throwing a fit over how demanding and too time-consuming the new relic quests are, after whining a truckload worth of threads about how they wanted the relic quests to be time-consuming.
Seriously, make up your damn mind, people

Also, the over-dramatization of them not liking the quest (which, btw, I personally absolutely love like no relic quest before) with what feels like hundreds of "This is the end of FFXIV!" and "I'm gonna quit!"-threads, even going so far as to accuse the devs of lying and going back on their promises - which they didn't, at least not in this case - is just ridiculous.

Meanwhile, most of the FFXIV population are ingame, happy to have something to do for the next weeks or months to come. Something they usually don't get to do, and FOR ONCE, something they can decide on themselves. Do I enjoy hunts? Would I rather play around with treasure maps, beastmen, crafting or maybe just do my dailies and buy the tokens slowly but surely with Law/Poetics?
After all, they included pretty much every single type of content there is, so no matter what it is that you enjoy, you can do that and are not forced into doing something you'd rather not. Not to mention they also gave specialists finally something useful to do.
But hey, horrible mini-patch, right?

So, what is this thread actually about?
Well, basically, it's a reminder.
A reminder to SE that, like with pretty much anything, the only ones who tend to write reviews online are the ones who are unhappy. The huge majority is ingame and is playing the actual game instead of complaining here. I have talked to hundereds of people today and not even one had a reaction even remotely similar to what you read here on the forums. So yeah, basically what I'm saying is, don't always listen to you forum. When the actual people ingame are leaving is when you have to worry, not when the same 30 people open up 5 new whine threads per hour to remind you how pissed off they are. Also, it's a first reaction. Many will probably calm down soon, even if they got up in arms on the first mention of 800 Alex runs or 50k+ Law stones.

It's also a reminder to any other positive forum-dweller that you are not alone
We might be few, but we do exist. Let's unite xD

And lastly, it's a reminder to all the people who are disappointed, furious and/or feeling entitled here. That you should sit back and slowly think about what this MMO gives you and what other MMOs offer.
Yes, sure, FFXIV is far from perfect. It has flaws, sometimes the content trickles super slowly and sometimes SE listens too well to our complaints (Savage as a reaction to all the "content is too easy" complaints, simple dps checks to all the "mechanics are too hard!" complaints, and now a time-consuming relic quest in response to all the requests to make it time-consuming).
But what FFXIV offers is a lot more than most other MMOs; it's not just pretty graphics, but lots of fun and different things to do. Many of you lament that some content is recycled or that the variety of mechanics hits a wall at some point, but do you seriously think other MMOs offer you 500 other types of mechanics than FFXIV does?
Nope. Fact is, they don't.
You'll still evade AoEs, fight debuffs in various ways and do quests that follow pretty much the same formulas.
So you might as well just stick with FFXIV and calm. the f*ck. down

This. One of the basics of Marketing "If someone hates your product they'll tell 3 people. If someone loves your product you'll be lucky if they tell even 1." People like to complain more than they like to praise. So the people really bothered by the relic are complaining and trying to get the product fixed to meet their tastes.

Personally, I do think the relic is a little short sighted in its implementation, but I don't honestly think it's *that* much worse than 2.x's relics. At least this time around you have options of what you want to do for the horrid grind.

Goodness, White Knights on this thread sure do like to throw out completely unfounded numbers, don't you? Here's a stat for you; I was logged on Ragnarok during peak hours today for about 4 hours. I saw two pf up pertaining to the relic quest. The other few were recruitment messages/looking to buy a house. I have six linkshells, four of which are exceedingly large and tend to be busy, the other two are for fc usage. Chat was completely dead. There were six people on the largest linkshell online, of which there are hundreds in. My friends list, which I keep updated (and full) had 4 people on. There was one person in my fc that logged on today, he asked about the update, I sent him the reddit showing what was needed. He laughed, logged, and texted me if I wanted to play some BF4. I said yep, and dropped this pile of flaming fecal matter.

But getting back to the point; double digit pfs in all servers eh? Mmhmm. Sure. Keep white-knighting. You only propagate this poisonous mindset that SE has that just copy/pasting old content and calling it new is completely alright.

Sorry, but that is either a blatant lie or you were online at 4 in the morning on a weekday, which means of course the number of people will dwindle.
I'm on Ragnarok as well, been online all day since the patch went live until now, and throughout all of the day there have been at least 30 groups in pf doing relic stuff, usually about 8 FATE parties (with the anima crystal farm as an objective listed), 5 Alex farm parties (anima farm as an objective as well) and the rest various unsynced parties for the second relic step, ALSO with the relic quest as the objective listed. All of my Linkshells and FCs have also been incredibly busy, but that's a personal thing, yours might jsut legitimately be dead, so that part doesn't count. Anyway, server was incredibly active with the relic quest all day.

Last night on Lamia, there were about 12 PFs up, mostly FATEs in the HW areas for the relics, some recruiting for unsynced dungeons for the relics. Starting today, I expect PFs of Alexander grind groups to start appearing.
