Y'shtola is the best waifu out of the scjons though. Even Yda and Yugiri (yes, Yugiri is a scion in my book) don't compare. And despite my personal liking of Minfia even I can admit Shtola is the better waifu.
I personally find the Scions to be pretty insufferable. Alphinaud is the only one who really grew into a character I actually like. It's only a personal opinion but I wish they would just do away with them. Especially Tataru. Yda is (was?) okay at times. Y'shtola has had her moments recently but... eeeh.
For people saying Y'sthola should tell them what's wrong with her because she's suffering in silence...well, one, she's clearly not suffering. And two, what would you do besides worry? You don't know any type of magic that can keep her alive if not even Matoya knows. What would eb the point of her telling you when your worry is worthless?
Call me crazy, but using fatal practices to compensate for the loss of a major sense is absolutely suffering. As for what would we do? gee I don't know, find a way to heal her maybe? For example, in FF9 when Garnet lost her voice due to the trauma she witnessed, her friends did everything in their power to try and help her recover. Were any of them miraculous healers? no. but they did what they could and ultimately it paid off, she regained her voice. What SE's done here in that situation is like everyone outright ignoring the loss of her voice, and carrying on like nothing happened, which would have made it far less likely that she would recover at all. This isn't character growth, there was no struggle or trying to address it before rising above, this was just 'oh, that happened..whatever'.
I don't disagree. But again, you're missing a key plot point: As far as the story is concerned, no one apart from Matoya knows that Y'shtola is blind.
For whatever reason, Y'shtola has opted to keep it secret, and Matoya is not likely to break the news if her disciple doesn't want to.
So, I'd reserve judgment on the Scions' apparent lack of action for now. I don't think it's fair to blame people for doing nothing about something they don't even know about.
Of course, any criticism about the way the story is written is fair comment.
And I agree that it'll take a lot for players to believe that anything untoward would happen to key characters, post patch 2.55.
My personal suspicion, though, is that we're building towards a major re-balancing after the 3.xx chapters.
I believe there were hints that 4.0 would no longer require new players to play through previous content.
I have no proof, but I think it could mean that the slate would be wiped clean once and for all by the end of the current arc.
