Chocobo porters in 3.0 are a little expensive?

So here I am near Anyx Trine thinking about quickly getting back to Tailfeather. It occurs to me that I could just use the chocobo porter to save money instead of teleporting back like I've done several times in 2.0. Except...

120 gil for the porter? What? A teleport across the map is only 100 gil, and that's without it even being a favorite destination.

I thought the idea was that porters were meant to be a cheap, but slow alternative to paying the aetheryte maintenance fee on teleports. Did I miss some lore somewhere which explains why in 3.0 areas that it's mostly cheaper to just teleport?

There doesn't have to be a lore explanation for everything...

... chances are it's just a result of currency inflation. 100 gil is the cheapest that can be charged for a teleport. Currency values inflated hugely over 2.x, while the porter prices are set to 2.0. So people have more money to spend, naturally they're going to inflate the prices on porters.

If you want a lore explanation, let's go with the "it's dangerous and uncharted territory" SE used to explain the difficulty jump.

There's also the fact that most of these poters are not people, but stones, artifacts, relics, stuff form a bygone era and as such they might have higher prices due to the exchnage rate between now and that era (or between different currencies)

lol, so much, I know. This just being the lore board, I thought it funny that it still cost me more to go out of my way to use the porter vs. the quick and easy (and previously always more expensive) teleport option.

It's not that 120 gil would break the bank for anyone by that point, but rather the oddity of it in contrast to the experience so far.

I know it makes sense to talk about the gil inflation and all, but that probably means that the teleport I mentioned should have probably cost 300-500 gil (150-250 if favorite) which would have made the 120 gil porter option make a lot more sense. If I remember correctly lore-wise, it's for the maintenance of those aetherytes. I'd be impressed if it somehow didn't cost more to maintain those aeterytes way out in the wilderness.

Granted, it's probably a bad idea to suggest SE to inflate teleportation prices in 3.0 areas at this point. It'd probably be more worthwile to convince them that the porters probably need to be reduced by about 75% to bring those costs in line with the expectations relative to the teleport costs.
