So I'm assuming the people that say don't like crafting part don't have any friends or people in FC that craft?

You're not exchanging time for power though. By the time most players get their i210 relic it will already be obsolete due to 3.2 releasing. At that point you're literally just throwing your time into a black hole that will NEVER give you anything worth the time put in.
Going to chime in here, the crafted items are locked behind master books, and also locked by specialist. We only get a choice of 3 specialist classes (can switch them for like what is it 900 blue scrips or more?). So even if people know crafter or can craft them themselves (like me i am 2 star crafter, have all master books just screwed on specialist) they will still need to rely on people to make them, mats are easy to come by for the most part. I dont really mind this part personally, but I can see where people are comming from. Did you know that some crafters are also RMT's? Also, some people just really dont have much gil on hand. right now on my server people are selling these for up to 5mil each. Just my two cents.
I was bit excited to start the new relic (I know, something is wrong with me) but after first couple steps probably gonna say screw it. Ill do first part for the glam but they really went overboard.
One of my crafter friends came back to try his hand at the relic, got to the awoken stage and saw what was in store for him. He couldn't of unsubbed faster... This man had like 3 zetas pre nerf.
Like this nonsense is absurd and completely overboard... Your telling me that for the FIRST mind you FIRST step of the relic I need to grind like a mindless drone for months (I play around 5 hours a week maybe) just to get an item that will be WAY outdated by the time I ever get it. Yeah no thanks SE I'll take my awoken weapon and wait for the nerfs so I can achieve this weapon in a reasonable and casual amount of time, not this absurd grind.
That's honestly the best thing to do. I did the same thing with the zodiac quest when I got tired of RNG dicking me over on the atma grind. Turned in my PLD Zeta to skip the new atma, got my dungeons done for i200, and parking progress there until SE nerfs it. I predict the nerfs soon, because even the Japanese player base is wondering what SE was smoking.
Until then, I'll start practicing Thordan EX for my perfectly acceptable i205 substitute. And hell, this relic grind probably wouldn't look as bad if Savage Alexander hadn't destroyed raid groups like it did.
"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something."
You have a VERY awkward definition of "casually" then.
The gil needed for the 16HQ craft item alone will cost you months of casual farming, since they will cost an arm and a leg given the horrendous requirements to craft them are only met by very few people.
Hint: playing 4+hrs a day is NOT considered casual by sane human beings.
Not at endgame level, no. I'm in a fairly casual FC and I don't even raid (still haven't managed to see coil ._.). No one in my FC bothers with the excessive grinding that comes AFTER you level a crafter to 50 / 60.
I paid roughly 3mil to get my brave weapon (early heavensward timeframe, actually leveled to 54 while grinding out light and dungeon drops).
3 mil for an item I consider okay. But if you were to buy the mats NOW you'd be lucky if you get ONE of the 16 items for 3 mil.
It is IDIOTIC. It's as if SE is screaming at me to do RMT in order to keep up.
No thank you. I'll wait for the nerfbat. F*** them 10 item levels.
to reach the requirements, all you need is a 53 or 55 crafter leveled to get the specialist unlocked (level 58 will prolly wind up being fine so can equip blue scrip gears), and the master book to go with it (very easy to get), the gear you need to craft this stuff is actually not as demanding as people are making it out to be, if i remember right you can get the needed stats just from the blue scrip set and HQ tools ARR equipment on acc slots, much like hittin the "adamantite ore" node on miner. i am WAY WAY above the needed stats on my crafter with melded ilvl 150 gears or whatever. Also, the price will drop drastically as the days progress. And there are so many more people that can do this than you think, some people are going to level crafters JUST to attempt to monopolize the economy for a bit, but they'll find out that prices arent no where near todays prices lol
