If we use a zeta to upgrade our anima will we lose it?

It's already known. You will not lose your zeta, in fact it has no relation for the new relic except you can skip the first stage as a bonus; this is likely verified if you have completed a zeta quest.

Each zeta completed will allow you to skip the first stage of a 3.x relic of your choice. How you skip it has not been confirmed. If they use it as an alternative ingredient for the first stage, it could be gone. They may let you keep it without the stats for glamours, but we just do not have that info yet.

True but that makes no sense and would mean that that the bonus is not really a bonus. We were told stage one is going to be relatively easy to get so consuming a zeta would be overkill, so to speak.

Edit: we were also told that it's a completely separate chain. The zeta boost seems to be something they added after feedback.

I'd say it will probably require a crafted HQ like last time but a zeta skip would probably not requre the crafted part. A nice saving on gil.

Considering you can start the quest with or without possession of a Zeta, its safe to assume it is an entirely different weapon.

Everything is speculation at this point but it could certainly be possible that the Zeta is "consumed" or surrendered in place of something else in other to attain the Anima weapon.

For example, you could be required to obtain a particular weapon and kill a certain number of enemies (or gather light, ugh). Perhaps turning in your Zeta as a substitute will be an alterative to skip the grinding part of the quest.

I don't know if anyone has said this, I don't have time to read thru sorry. You can go to "Drake" in Hyrstmill with your zeta in your inventory/armory chest. Talk to him and choose the zodiac replica option. Since no one uses it in game play other than for glamour, the replica is all you need. Costs 80 Gil. I hope this helps someone.

PS I have been told, but cannot confirm, that you will not be able to obtain the replica after tonight's maintainence, for at least a couple of patches.

I have to agree, chances are that the Zeta relic will be consumed.

I'm a little cyncical given the devs track record on implementing certain other things (egis) so I'll do the Schoolastere quest first and see what others do to the Zeta, but chances are I'll bite the bullet for the first relic and if the replicas are implemented soon enough, use the first zeta for the AST weapon.

It's okay, no rush on the Zeta replica. Some of us like the Nexus replica for quite a bit, and I guess Cane of the Heavens is pretty enough for now.
