Is it pointless to lvl Paladin?

Only have a Mch, 3 melee... and Drg and Mch will sometimes pull at the start but only for an autoattack or 2, which is no big deal. The only time really I ever have to really worry about threat is say Thordan, all the big aoe healing before the big blinding attack that breaks your screen and you accidently run too far and take 9999 damage but it's okay cause the Ast or Whm has aggro...
