go back and read the dialog, it was due to one was a highlander and one was a miqo'te. That's a keeper of the moon mi'qote they are a more female oriented the seeker of the sun.

In fact only seeker of the sun do lion pride mating habits while keeper of the moon don't, they are known to have more sons hence the lore of their naming where a male is given the mothers name with a suffix of birth order. And this goes up to the seventh son.

Though there are ten suffixes listed above, rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race.

Not sure where you got "more sons" since Miqo as a whole seem to not actually (supposedly, ignoring adventurer numbers) have many males available at all.

Seekers throw a "lot" of their already few males out the breeding pool because they aren't considered worthy. I don't think the keepers would make a big fuss about it. They make a bigger fuss about one guy hoarding girls for himself.
