i mean the scholar petIf your pet is in Sic it will use its cool downs when ever it feels like it in fights regardless of if it is a good or bad time. Obey, it will auto attack but not use its larger abilities until you give the order. Hence its best to learn to manage your pet rather than leaving them on auto pilot in most cases. For example a later pet for Summoner is a Garuda Egi and has an ability called Contagion that extends your dots. If you have her on Sic she may chose to cast it before you even apply dots to begin with or before you have finished doing so.
My summoner is not max level yet so maybe someone who has more time invested can say if there are other circumstances for using Sic but I've only used it when leveling outside dungeons etc with my tanking pet out.

It's basically the same deal; you will want to keep the fairy on Obey. Sic will cause her to use her big spells without your input, which isn't exactly optimal. Sic use to be "okay" (read: not great) for Selene, since she would cycle through her two speed buffs every minute, but I don't think that's the case anymore with how they changed her spells.

Scholar pets do not do damage they only heal and buff, if your using Selene. To cause damage and add DPS as a scholar your going to want to have cleric stance so you yourself can add damage. But no your fairy does not do damage, it just heals. Think of it as your co-healer. Have fun! Arcanist is a blast to level because you get the best of both DPS and Healing!

Yeah was just using Summoner pet as an example because I don't know the Scholar pet moves as well. As Vanille said though, same deal. I see this thrown around all the time, but that's not how it works. You don't have to be 60 at all to get the 100% bonus xp. You can have any class at any level and any class at a lower level will gain 100% bonus xp until that reach the same place as your highest level class. For example: you have a 34 summoner - every other DoW or DoM you level will gain 100% bonus xp until they hit 34.
This does change at 50. The bonus drops to 50% from 50-60.
You get permission from your guild leader to study other jobs after you reach a certain level threshold, at that point you can flip flop around all you like. Keep in mind you have to outfit each job as well, so it costs more gill, more dungeon runs, and more inventory space. Sometimes it's easier to max one or 2 jobs first instead of doing them all at once. That being said, one of you will always be left out in your dungeon runs if one of you does not chose to be healer early on.
As it is now, your Smn will have an easier time leveling a healer, because the Smn and Sch jobs are both tied to Arcanist. If you yourself want to heal you'll have to wait until you reach the level at which your guild master allows you to study abroad (not sure what level it is, but it's pretty early on).
