Ya it was Ravana Extreme, I got my 10th Clear yesterday and bought the Ravana Axe for it, I'm done being BLM as I'm playing it 90% of the time so being a Tank is a refresh.
Ripping off Hate from the Tank occured out of 1/10 Runs, in that time where I use all Buffs, the Tank already has the Enmity generated.

Though... even Quelling Strikes won't prevent you from getting Hate as a Black Mage, once Ravana goes into his Attack Stance (More Damage dealt / More Damage receives) Black Mages often tend to deal 10-12k Crits and you easily fall in the "Only 10% Hate left Black Mage, I see YOU there" Category.

Was bored enough to queue for Alexander Normal in DF tonight. I figured, why not upgrade some of the law gear on some of my alts (so I can turn it in for seals, lol) and get rid of some of the stray tokens I have laying around? It's been... an adventure.

Some highlights:

• A PLD that runs away from me with the same-color Ferrofluid tether (cue Yakkety Sax music...)
• A WHM co-healer in A4 with i136 gear in several slots
• Multiple DPS that won't break tethers in A4
• Multiple DPS that leave adds hitting healers in A1
• Not being able to make the DPS check on adds in A3
• A fire tether in A3 that refused to pass (tank walked thru it 4x before I died)

The worst part is, I haven't won a single drop all night. >:|

Cooldowns are always necessary. XD
Better to be in the practice of using them than not.

I see a difference between "neccessary" and "helpful", so let me put it like this:
If a tank has proper gear for the duty they're running, and if they pull normal groups of trash, I can easily heal them through it without them using any CDs. If they use CDs it gives me more time for cleric stance, but that's all. In this case, CDs are helpful, but not neccessary.
As far as I can say CDs are neccessary if
1. you run some hardcore content
2. you do a speedrun and thus pull more groups at once
3. your healer is a jerk and can't keep you alive
4. you are a jerk and don't have proper gear for the content you're running (but in this case you're too much of a jerk to use CDs anyway)
When I play the paladin I prefer using CDs no matter the circumstances, though.

Lowlevel roulette, this time on my dragoon, end up in Copperbell NM with a scholar, a sprout thaumaturge (newbie message pops up) and a gladiator telling us they're tanking the dungeon for the first time and thus asks us to be patient. I'm always up for helping people new to their class or role so I decide to slow down my DPS to not steal aggro and this way give the tank a chance to actually tank. Well, they're spamming flash, which is a good start, unfortunately the enemies aren't always in range, and the thaumaturge is pulling shit anyway by casting sleep. I ask them not to pull anymore, but I don't get an answer or see another reaction (sometimes I believe that some newbies don't realize that FFXIV is an mmo and thus think that the people they're running duties with are NPCs...), so it's that little mage tanking most of the dungeon.
We reach the final boss, the scholar and I simultaneously say "focus boss", we laugh about it, I tell the tank that they can't stun the boss so they may want to dodge the aoe, the thaumaturge pulls again and I realize that my advice was completely useless because our ignorant tank mage gets aggro after the boss smashed the rock. This time they even kite so it's in fact impossible for the poor tank to take the boss back while I'm getting extremely annoyed because I really don't want to run after this shit. At this point I f*** off being patient, the tank won't take the boss back anyway, so I put out full DPS, grab the boss and tank it for the rest of the fight.
I got two comms at the end while I commended the tank to motivate them not to give up on tanking and for at least trying to do a good job. The very attempt of doing things right is also something people should honor.

Omg, I had it before (but not with a PLD). We got the same charges and he ran away from me. So I stood close to the middle of the arena and saw him knock off to the electricity.

Guess what, I also got someone with different charges (colour) than me trying to come close to me, I was running around like a madman to stay away from him. I think he got it at the last minute, but it was too late. He tried moving away but got both of us in the pool of water.

Alex Normal on DF is a hit of miss. In Chaos datacentre, I will say 20% of the run will end up in nowhere. You can still farm it, but you just have to take it easy on some cases. RNG loot drop is still the real hell.

I just have to tell someone

Joined 60 roulette as my AST and got Neverreap. Had a PLD, BLM and SMN, all around the 155-160 mark on ilevel. None are new to the dungeon. Tank pulls tiny mob groups (which is fine, I don't mind that too much) and was generally OK.

Unfortunately, the SMN and BLM were, hands down, the worst DPS I've ever seen.

I'm talking <400 DPS on trash mobs. Combined. It took 15 minutes to reach the first boss, and that's with me doing as much DPS as possible (usually the most). First boss took 10 minutes because neither DPS would hit the shadow form of the boss. The black mage was casting random F3 and B3 and I'm pretty sure was just facerolling the keyboard. I out DPS'd both of them against the bees. Second boss took forever as well.

But, like a fool, I persisted. Maybe I'm secretly a machoist. I spoke up in party chat about the low DPS and got precisely zero response. Final boss 45 minutes in. Starts off ok, then we hit the first add phase and the SMN gets knocked off by the knockback pulse at the end of it. The BLM is utterly unable to kill the adds on the second add phase spawn, and seems to think running at the boss and losing half his health is the required solution to this problem.

I jump off the edge and force it all to end, then ask the BLM directly in party chat if he knows how to use his skills in any sort of rotation or method that makes him look like he's actually played the game more than the last 5 minutes.

He quits. Then so do the others. Not a word said the entire time.

50 minutes of my life wasted

EDIT: Oh and the BLM had some Mind accessories, and the SMN had Mind and Vit accessories.

I think it might actually be a good thing! Now you can blacklist him and you never have to worry about ending up in his Party Finder groups or hearing him in /shout /say or /yell. c:

Oh I did haha. And he riled me up so much, I complained to his FC leader. All I know was, he was kicked out for being an asshat.

I just got done booting a WAR tank who literally thought he was important because he 'just returned to the game.' Was hyper rude about it.

All we did was politely ask if he wouldn't mind passing the Dark Knight sword. XD he didn't even have DRK unlocked. This was in Sohm Al. We kicked him after the second boss and got an FC tank.

He can't even Need the DRK sword, not if he even wanted to.

Well, there's a difference between not Needing on it and not Rolling on it. If he doesn't have DRK unlocked, all he could use the sword for would be either GC seals or desynth (which I'm doubting he had to that level, if he'd been taking a break)... so them asking if he could be so nice as to Pass on it, shouldn't really call for a torrent of verbal abuse (the way it sounded like it did from the post) ^^

If one for some reason wants to Greed on it -- because one plans on levelling DRK next, or because one really needs GC seals -- a simple "no, sorry, I'd like to have it, too" is enough =)
