Gil seller spam is really bad now

Completely disabling /tell from showing up in the log makes it much easier ignore the spam. However, it also prevents you from receiving legitimate tells. There are still the random bots hanging out in populace areas (days at a time when clearly advertising forbidden services,) and I have to blacklist them individually if the bot it set to spam every few seconds.

The amusing thing is seeing the Black Mage mules buy up entire sections of Thaumaturge equipment off of the marketboard. But the mule suspicion is based of gibberish names and aren't a 100% unambiguous guarantee that they're not legitimate players. It's just really likely.

OP...I see that you are not new the Forums so you should know by now that any thread concerning RMTs will be completely ignored by Yoshi-P and the Dev team. The Forums are littered with evidence to that effect.

I'm on Diabolos, just like the OP. It is TERRIBLE. I wish they'd do something, anything to alleviate the situation. Switching servers is not an option, especially since I worked hard to get gil to buy my personal house. I don't want to lose it and as we all know, housing is full on pretty much every server. Right click report for RMT or right click blacklist would be a good start in my opinion. Or more settings, like "only receive tells from friends", or even the option to make a filter without having to use a plugin.

I see a couple messages a week on Gilgamesh.

I see them numerous times per hour on Gilgamesh. Heck, I see botters running around Uldah all the time.

I used to put myself on busy, but even that's too much of an annoyance. Recently, I just turned off the sound notification and started telling people that I don't read tells. I'd absolutely love a "Only receive tells from people on my friend list" setting.

I was just about to say, I saw this thread and suddenly realized I can't remember last time I saw a Gil Seller. Maybe even at a year now since one bothered me.

My advice outside of using the /busy status ( I really hate that), is to make a separate chat log tab that has all the same filters as your regular chat log tab, with the exception of /tells.

If you have the sound effect for /tells on, yes, it'll still sound off, but you don't have to see the clutter. And if you're paranoid that it may have been a legit player's /tell, just casually swap the tab and see if it's a real message or gibberish.
