How about a moogle companion, like our chocobo (not to ride u weirdos)

If we did get a Moogle companion I think they should have some system in place to determine which zones it can be summoned in. Perhaps akin to aether currents we could have five woven baskets hidden in each zone, and upon finding them all we could appease our Moogle friend enough for him to be helpful. ; )

The topic of them adding new companions sort of just got hand-waved in a recent live letter saying making new animations are "too time-consuming," as are designing a leveling system for another companion.

Please don't look forward to it.

Actually kind of happy to hear this lol. I just finally got my chocobo to level 20 after playing for 2 years ( on and off ) and I would not look forward to leveling another companion... no thanks...

I imagine a moogle companion being the support class of bard from FFXI, complete with playing different instruments. I can't imagine a moogle fighting the way a chocobo companion does, but supplementing your character to the equivalent strength would be fun for solo play.

In Churning Mists you meet this moogle that wants to join the moogle knights/protectors. Its a long side-quest which ends in him joining the knighthood. Off all the moogles in the realm, I reckon he would gladly be a part-time Scion and help us in our adventures?

Here is my 2 bits on the thought:

I personally don't want the exhaustive work of having to completely level up another companion like the Chocobo as mentioned prior by a fellow adventurer. I have finally gotten mine cleared into level 13...But I also only level him by use of the Companion Challenge log as well.

With that said, I think that a Moogle Companion would be an excellent addition to the game based on it being a Companion filling an entirely different role:
1. It would provide us a conduit for sending gear/gil/mats/etc. to and from our retainers while on the open map.
2. It would act as a "stratagist" on the open world battle field with haste, protect, dispell, etc.
3. Moogles are capable of going into dungeons (they go everywhere.)
4. They are also capable (or could be) of providing with a bonus or nerfs for crafting and/or gathering. The Chocobo helps out DoW and DoM. Why not have the Moogle help out DoL and DoH?

I personally don't think this would be that hard to implement personally, but I am neither a coder or programmer. I would think you could take the Mage animations from the King Moogle fight and map them for the Moogle minion we have or even one from Churning Mists.

Odd thing is my retainers bring me back very little fish these days. It might be the fact I tend to choke my retainers on the fish they bring back. Who knows if they are by your side they may learn a thing or 2 from the warrior of light
