Agreed, that and the fact that it is quite time consuming getting those sealants.I'm not taking advantage of anyone. The Ehcatl Sealants and other parts were quite sizable in cost on my server (200-400k depending on the day and item). So for any crafter item a 50-100% markup is usually not unreasonable (on my server). So no nothing ill was being done here. Personally I did find it odd they sold at the rate they did... but I don't concern myself much with the why's all the time.
From previous replies it is clear they actually track pretty much every feature and its use, so I do not think this is going to be the case if people do not speak up. Speaking up doesn't really show how many people are unhappy either as there is a very small amount of players that actually post. If the majority is using said features instead, they are not likely to address an issue unless there is quite a large amount of topics/different players posting in those topics.
Now as to your OP, I have yet to receive any artisan/forager gear since you made this topic. I have been actively trying for it to see if I can turn a profit from desynthing them lol. 2 retainers going out 2-3 times a day since you made this post and no luck yet. They may have added it to the list of obtainable items, but there is a very very large pool of items to bring back.

You're right Rath its a SUPER huge pool. Since you can get back any of the Artisan items (armor and offhands), any of the Foragers (armor and offhands), any of the workbenches... and then all that other errant PvP and dungeon equipment, a few super rare drops, and then a bunch of pure vender junk. Its surprising given the size of the pool how just a handful of these free items finally showing up can muck things up.
Personally I feel worst for furniture makers. Workbenches have ALWAYS been a staple item for furniture sales. They don't sell fast but the profit margin on them was always healthy.

OP.....you don't seem to realize the big picture here. The release of heavensward gave us crafters the lovely opportunity to sell ilvl180 gear. Of course, the materials for the gear needed might have been nightmarish to get and gated behind a weekly lockout, and due to such constraints might have been obscenely expensive to both craft and sell, aka noone ever bought it...buy hey, who cares right? Lets not forget the lovely gifts SE gave us in 3.1! Ilvl185 gear! The same ilvl as dungeon drops! Non-meldable! Ugly-as-sin! Epic! Can't forget all locked behind specialist-recipes too! Let's not forget that epic one recipe that culinarian got.
All sarcasm aside, the point is this; do not delude yourself into thinking SE cares about crafters; they care about how they can marginalize crafters while giving everything we do to non-crafters.
It can muck things up quite a bit, I agree. I honestly don't think crafted HQ versions of any item or HQ gathered items should be obtainable from quick ventures. Maybe include them in the 18 hour pools. Same goes with sellable dungeon drops. If they wanted to get the gear out to crafters, give out the token acquired lvl 50 gear instead of artisan/foragers.You're right Rath its a SUPER huge pool. I think that a few people care about crafters. But I don't think those people actually understand the economy well which is a really big problem. Crafting isn't just do I have interesting recipies to make. Its can I acquire said recipes, and after making the item do they have value.
Fundamentally that is basic enough I wouldn't think there would be gobs of problems. But since crafting has flourished in some patches, it seems whenever crafting flourishes too much the director hits us with a stick and says our goods can't be THAT GOOD. Which sucks because they have never been BiS... so I'm not sure what the deal is.

2.0 accessories, 2.4 bard chest piece, just off the top of my head.I think that a few people care about crafters. They've been BiS before. It required melds but they've still been best in slot.
I do feel this is the case about crafters especially when looking at Tier V materia for crafting since we have gear that can't even reach cap with current materia. They said it wouldn't be at the start of 3.0 so 3.1 comes along and still not available. When are we getting it, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 which is 3, 6, 9 months away? Plus add in the stuff also being talked about in this thread.
You don't need TV materia for any of the current crafts. The only thing letting you SB it would do is drive up the prices of crafting gear and those materials used in making it. With all the complaints about material prices and such, that would only reduce the amount of people able to afford things. Yes, it would make things easier for those of us actively making 2* red scrip gear for ourselves, but only for us.I do feel this is the case about crafters especially when looking at Tier V materia for crafting since we have gear that can't even reach cap with current materia. That's true there were a handful. I know quite a few people were annoyed at the 2.4 chest piece. But as you said they took some pretty crazy melds.
