Why would anyone carry around a cane instead of using it to assist in walking? Then it hit me, Count Edmonts' "cane" is actually musket. He is just waiting for a badass moment to use it.

Our memory of their faces is fuzzy, like an unidentifiable wad of fibers. -Anonymous Epitaph to the Warriors of Lint

Elidibus and Lahabrea were, at some point before the Allagan Empire's rise, Warriors of Light. The Ascians of their time turned them due to Elidibus being to curious for his own good, and Lahabrea love of combat being more in line with Ascian goals overall.
Elidibus became leader of the Ascians (or atleast the ones with an interest in Eorzea) because it was his plans that led to the Great Flood, and thus the Sixth Umbral Era.
Lahabrea was content for the first few ages just being a warrior against various Warriors of Light/other powerful warriors. Elidibus was the one who managed to get him to actually try being subtle around the time he took over...which eventually led to him rising very quickly in the ranks, as well as making designs on Zodiark itself (he only came in for the combat after all, nothing says he became a true believer.)
Igeyorhm was one of the few (if only one), well, ANYTHING that Lahabrea completely trusted

Well, since someone else besides me mentioned the whole Lahabrea-Igeyorhm dynamic, it really seems to me like the others couldn't tolerate Lahabrea. Elidibus and Nabriales actively complain about him, Elidibus even says to you that the others find him difficult to deal with and Nabriales is pretty close to outright disgust both times he mentions Lahabrea.
Meanwhile, Igeyorhm is there, actively wanting to merge with him, being completely tolerant of his personality. I can't really help but feel they're, at the very least, closer than the others. I mean, they share a mind and body in the battle you fight, that seems like it would require some sense of trust.

I'm not so sure about that. So far her following him seems more ideological. Wouldn't be surprised if she suddenly turned out to like someone completely different.
As for Aymeric, it is my headcanon that he is so focussed on work that he wouldn't recognise romantical advances from anyone unless you spell out your intentions. he seems like the cluesless in love kind of guy.

So they are Jesse and James of the Ascian's Team Rocket, basically.Well, since someone else besides me mentioned the whole Lahabrea-Igeyorhm dynamic, it really seems to me like the others couldn't tolerate Lahabrea. I like to think that long ago there was a sort of "Big Bang" theory regarding FF14 Universe. That long ago there was a giant Crystal that exploded and whose shards spread. When they finally settled they eventually formed their own world with their own life-forms. Some life-forms may have abused their respective lifestream and eventually died and such a planet is where Midgardsomnr resided and eventually escaped.
Zodiark's planet was in the early stages of life when hydaelyn (accidently or purposely) crash-landed and displaced Zodiark ... leaving him shattered as we've seen. With the early stages Hydaelyn lucked out when Midgardsomnr landed in her new world and made a pact with him: in exchange for him and his kind to live there he has to do __ for her.
Silver Tear's lake is actually a giant crater where she landed, but is covered up by water, so it explains why there's so much aether in Mor Dhona.
The world of FF14 is unique in that 2 world crystals reside --and are fighting over-- the same realm. Which explains the Umbral and Astral era.

That's actually something I've thought about as well, though I'm going with a more organic approach to it a la IX.
Humorous headcanon for lulz? Ok, let's try this...
- Minfilia eats too much, but the excess calories go straight to her breasts. Either that or she pads.
- As a bard by trade, Thancred apprenticed under the Wandering Minstrel.
- Yda's academic specialty is engineering; her methods of maintenance, however, are entirely percussive.
- Pretty much everyone that was at the Battle of Cartenau, even 2.0 Warriors of Light though the Echo, suffer varying degrees of PTSD.
- Nael was always intended to be a woman, and her masculine pronouns are a result of translation.
- Before studying in Sharlayan, Papalymo owned a falafel stand.
- Aymeric has a lot of fangirls in Ishgard, despite his illegitimate birth. Having become an icon of hope / despair has done nothing to this status.
Trpimir Ratyasch's Way Status (7.3 - End)
[ ]LOST [ ]NOT LOST [X]TRAUNT!
"There is no hope in stubbornly clinging to the past. It is our duty to face the future and march onward, not retreat inward." -Sovetsky Soyuz, Azur Lane: Snowrealm Peregrination

I'm pretty sure the Nael part is actually true, though not completely sure.
