FFXIV's devs are following the massively successful WoW model, and it seems to be working. If you have a problem with that, address it. Complaining that filthy casuals are ruining your game is the best way to end up on the ignore list.

WoW has actually been failing so using it as the basis for a successful model is a mistake.

WoW has been consistently losing subs since WotLK. Since they scrapped skill trees, individuality, challenging content and basically anything that may be too complex for a 12 year old.

So yeah. I have every right to blame what is "my" problems. Those problems being that video games are being dumbed down for the masses who never cared about gaming to begin with. Who never gave a damn about MMO gaming or RPGs and just want to play dress up.

I have every right to blame those people for changing the gaming industry. By the gaming industry catering to the lowest common denominator.

Its the exact same kind of crap as with Television.

The only thing on the history channel any more is Ancient Aliens and Conspiracy theory bull shit. Society would rather be spoon-fed garbage than have to think for themselves for even a moment.

3/4 of the player base cant even be bothered to read the tool tips for their skills. They might as well get rid of them and just make one skill that instantly kills everything on one button.

Gaming has seriously gone to crap when Minecraft is one of the most popular games out there.

This game forces me to save the world or do other kill/save stuff all the time and I enjoy looking good while running through the world multiple times to do it

I'm not that dedicated to do the ultimate challenge contet I prefer crafting, gatering, trying to get rich(unsuccessfull here lol) getting mad over lalafel voices(no offense here) and glamour.
I'd try to finish Final Coil but it's pretty much dead therefore what other choices do I have?

Yes, sorry for being so "Casual", but here we are ppl.

I've played games where horizontal progression was the aim; and it led to lockouts and funneling of classes, etc. that really hindered the average person who couldn't invest 10s of hours weekly into the MMO. So SE gave us a game where gear are stat sticks and proper use of your class actions and your awareness skills are king. All the next tier of gear does is cover the gap between the newest content's balancing and what you started out at. Currently, the new hot content, Thordan Ex, has a minimum of i190. If you have been playing for 3 months, you've surpassed that gear req. Also, if you have been playing since launch, like me, you don't even notice gear reqs for the most part; usually you have it covered and you're experienced enough that minimum gear reqs are all you need.

Back to content; with the drop of Thor ex, this is the first time since Shiva ex that my group where once we beat it, we'll farm it seeing how the new weapons are a viable upgrade from our Antiquated. Savage A4 was not an option for us "casuals". I believe this sentiment is much broader than just our group of 8 who have full, "grown up" lives and while we still enjoy MMOs, we don't have the schedule we had in highschool/University we had 10 years ago to invest in a full raid schedule and still have time to gather/ craft/ involve ourselves in other aspects of such a broad game of mid core content that is FFXIV. So we end up clearing the content once, twice if someone needs help, and done with it; we stalled on SA3, so we have really only cleared through SA1-2 3-4 times and are done with it.

This brings us to mid core content, I myself am currently i198; I have min maxed my Warrior's gear to accommodate my play style. I see no reason to run my roulettes daily to increase that score for the content I currently run. I am totally comfortable going into Thor ex in the gear I am in, I have beaten Bis and Rav ex and find no reason to run it outside of "fun"(very subjective), I haven't capped my eso in weeks, so you ask, what do I care about?

Multiple things; I care about running old trials unsynced with my FC mates to aquire the items to make weapon glams for friends; I enjoy running multiple maps(Map Monday usually tailors in 18-24 maps in a row) for minions and materials to make cool glamours. I enjoy grouping with my friends to do these "silly" events to gather unique items before they hit the cash shop. The list goes on, and I'm sorry that it doesn't appeal to you.

If you're looking for something that isn't here( here being this game) then the root of the problem isn't here, because the content patch notes are released prior to each patch giving ample time for people to become familiar with the released content. The root of the problem is you are playing the wrong game for what you want out of your time invested. I wouldn't play Super Mario World if I was looking for a deep engaging story or an in depth crafting system; why play a theme park MMO if you are looking for more than 5 endgame raid bosses?

Is this game seriously Fashion Fantasy 14? Is that all these casuals care about is playing dress up with dolly?

Glamour is great but come on seriously. Is that ALL the community is concerned with?

Aaaaaand the crux of the mater shows up.
You're mad that everything is become more excess-able to the masses and catering to a wider audience then just the select niche you fall under.

The most threads I see around here is just conplaining, such as this is. Why does it actually matter that people like their glamours? The game is still going, people aren't just standing around in glamours and doing nothing else, so please stop.

Yeah, I've pretty much given up any hope for this game to be anything but the most bare bones of MMOs. I have never had a period of cancellation since the launch of ARR, but after not play XIV since 3.1 came out, and another 1-2 months before that... I took many "helpful" people's advice on this forum and ended my sub. Maybe one day I'll have the urge to play, maybe one day XIV will add more depth and a better hook. But right now there is nothing in the game that is worth paying monthly for.

At least I have becomed hooked into FFXI, so I can get my FF fix somewhere else and thanks to our FC's Discord server, I can keep in touch.
