why would someone buy mithril packs when all of its cards are obtainable from npcs

you mean like him or her? sure, if they just WOULD NOT HAVE RANDOM RULE
thanks to the random rule, beating them is possible about once in 20 tries, combine it with the abysmal low drop rate of the cards (and the fact that one of them is timed), i would rather rip out my own feet than trying them any more (i had some hours with them and NO THANKS)
serious, what is SE thinking? getting RNG over RNG over RNG is no fun at all!

Landenel has terrible AI, he's very easy to beat by just showing weak sides intentionally and trapping him. He's much, much easier than the Heavensward Random NPCs, because they seemingly realized how his AI was easy to exploit. Lewena's just terrible, though fortunately you can still farm the trials. It will take less time than farming MGP you need from Mythril, certainly. I agree that it's not worth it to spend the MGP on them.

(That being said, I've spent 500k+ on Gold Packs and Zidane is still elusive. The RNG is terrible, but, uh, not for the reasons you're offering).

I sometimes challenge her for fun (though I already got several terra, bartz, ok knight cards from trials) and I got all of her cards within no time

her droprate isnt a close as bad as other npcs and if you know what you do you can beat her 5-10 times per window, which results in a card nearly everytime

I get full 2 and 3 star decks way more often then 1 star decks, probably your cards are just bad

I own 20 1 star, 62 2 + 3 star cards and 35 4+5 stars, the odds of getting 1 star decks are extremly low, so just improve your deck..

But I agree. Certain NPCs, harder ones, should drop cards more of the time. Also, if a gold card pack drops cards 3 and 4*, I should have a chance to always get 1, 2 and 3. Not lower tier cards like Mother Miounne...

It'd be like having a drawing and guaranteeing $50, $75 and $100 dollar prizes, then giving everyone that participated a buck.
